Part 4

I have been mentally preparing for this for a long time, and it's finally happening. I'm going back to school. Kai and I quickly get ready and head out the door. We didn't have enough money for a uniform, so the Headmaster let us wear what we want. He also thankfully put me and Kai in the same classes. I'm wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt, a blue scarf, jeans, and blue sneakers.

It's kind of cold outside, so once I step out of the apartment, I pull the scarf closer to my face. Kai follows behind in his sweatpants and green hoodie.

I start walking down the steps to see a girl wearing the Ouran boy's uniform! Should I talk to her? Before I can even decide, Kai runs up to her and taps her shoulder.

She turns around and smiles. "Hello."

"Hi, I'm Kai, and this is my friend Ash. Are you going to Ouran Academy?" Kai gives her a friendly grin.

She nods. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Haruhi. And yeah, I'm going to Ouran. Are you two transferring?"

"Yeah, today's our first day. I hope you don't mind if we walk with you," Kai says.

"No, I don't mind at all." We start walking silently to Ouran. Finally, Haruhi breaks the awkward silence. "So, are you two from America?"

We nod. "Well, my dad's from Japan," Kai explains, "but I've lived in America my whole life. Ash is fully American though!" He smiles proudly at me for some reason.

"Yeah, I am," I mutter awkwardly. The only people I only talk too are still only Kai and his parents, so this is pretty much the first time I've talked to anyone besides them.

We make it to Ouran, and as soon as we step inside, it's all eyes on us. I glance at Kai and breathe out slowly and shakily. He looks at me with worried eyes, but I grin reassuringly.

"Well, we'll see you around, Haruhi. We have to go to the office." Kai says and we both wave. I have the feeling I won't be talking much while I'm here.

We go to the office and walk up to the desk. The secretary smiles kindly at us. "Yes?"

"We're here for our schedule. I'm Kai Minami and this is Ash Alotri."

She opens a drawer and flips through some files, until she finally takes out two sheets of paper. "Here you are, Mr. Alotri, Mr. Minami. Have a nice day."

We smile at the kind lady, and walk out. "She was nice, wasn't she? See, this won't be so bad." Kai nudges me slightly.

I nod. "Maybe... Let's just go to class." I look at my schedule (which is the same as Kai's). "Class 1-A... where's that?"

Kai sighs. "This school is way too big. It's unnecessary."

I nod my head in agreement. "Well, either way, we still need to go to class."

We wonder around the school for a good fifteen minutes, until finally, we bump into Haruhi. "Do you know where Class 1-A is? We can't seem to find it." Kai smiles sheepishly.

"Of course! That's where I'm headed now, actually." She motions for us to follow her.

We follow Haruhi for a bit, till we finally get to a room that says 'Class 1-A'.

As we walk in, all eyes are on us once again. People start to whisper and murmur as the teacher smiles at us. "Hello Haruhi. And you two must be the new students. I'm Mr. Hayashi. Please introduce yourselves."

"I'm Kai Minami," he gives a close-eyed smile, and I can literally see hearts in the girls' eyes.

"I'm Ash Alotri," I say softly, suddenly finding my shoes to be the most interesting thing in the room.

"Kyaa-!" All the girls yell. "Sooo cute!"

My eyes widen slightly at their odd reaction. The teacher chuckles as if this is a daily occurrence. "Calm down everyone. Both of you can sit behind the twins."

We go and sit behind the ginger twins. "Now, class. Let's get started with today's lesson."
