Nora's POV

It's been weeks since I've last talked to Carter and the distance has been killing me. I'm only playing a silly game with him but the pressure was on to mess with him. The player can't be beat unless someone tries to beat him. My biggest concern was the fact that I didn't get to mess with him these past few weeks. He had continued to hook up with other girls, still not giving a shit about them after he was finished.

"I can't find my favorite shirt" I scream in distress.

"Did you try the drawer honey" my step mom shouts back.

"Yes,why would I not che- found it" she was right. It was a tight red wool crop top. I paired it with white shorts and white converse.

"You are not wearing that" I come to a halt as my step mother calls me out.

"Why?" I glare at her.

"No daughter of mine is gonna look like that. You are supposed to be respected not look like some prostitute" she argues.

"First off you aren't my mother. Second of all I'm turning 18 soon I need to make my own choices, this is one of them." I start to walk away.

"I am your mother and you'll listen to me" she shouts.

"You'll never replace my real mother. Just because you have some sort of authority in this house doesn't mean you can control what I do" I slam the door making my way to my red Mini Cooper.

"You look pissed" a voice says from beside me before I can get in my car.

"I am, River" I respond taking a glance at his attractive features.

"What's gotten you down love?" He shows off his adorable dimples as he smiled.

"Family drama, you wouldn't understand" I shrug it off as I always would.

"Try me" he chuckles.

"My step mom's a bitch" It was as simple as that.

"Step parents are the worst"

"You have step parents?" I ask.

"Yeah a step dad, he's just using my mom, it's sad cause she's falling for his twisted ways" he didn't seem effected by this.

"I'm sorry to hear that. My father just wanted a rebound he knocked her up and they got married. I love my step brother don't get me wrong, it's just gross" I chuckle.

"At least we understand each other" he smirks.

"Hold that thought" I say as I hearmy phone ring.

"Aubrey hey" I answer.

"Miles kissed me" Is the first thing she yells.

"What, he...what" I was beyond shocked.

"I don't know what to do, it was a really good kiss, I think I'm catching feelings for him. I know it was only a kiss but..oh I don't know" she takes a deep breath.

"You, like him what about-" I was cut off.

"River I know, I really wanna get to know him better. I'm not sure who I like. I've only talked to River once. but last night I was out to dinner with my family and something happened at work. You know them so they left me alone to pay for the food but I didn't bring enough money to pay. Luckily Miles was there and ge saw me freaking out, so he payed for me and drove me home. It was really sweet of him cause he walked me to the door and then bamn he kissed me and I kissed him back" she goes on a long rant.

"Aubrey, calm down I'm sure it's fine" I sigh.

"It's not fine, don't be a bitch" she screams. I hated when she got angry.

"I'll see you soon" I hang up.

"Are you okay" River asks.

"Yeah, could you give me a ride?" I ask.

"You hooked up with who" River asks me.

"Raelyn, she's new. Thought I'd give her a welcome present" I smirk.

"Dood, that's s- hey Nora" River smirks. What was that about.

"Hey River" she sits beside him on the opposite side of me.

"How are you, since the call this morning" he leans in closer to her. Why did he think that was okay. Why do you care?

"Everything is fine" she smiles. "River, it's worked it self out"

"That's good" he smirks.

"Hey Aubrey" Nora asmirks as Aubrey takes a seat on Miles lap. My attention was brought back to Nora when I heard her giggle.

"River stop" she was still giggling at something River was whispering in her ear.

"You okay bro" Miles asks. I hadn't realized but my fists were clenched.

"Yeah, fine" I mutter. I stand up to leave.

"Carter, where are you going" I hear Nora shout after me, I turned to give her a look before I continued walking away from the group. I needed to blow of some steam, I walked to the back of the school where I could smoke for a while.

"Carter, I can see you" I heat her angelic voice as she walked towards me.

"What" I snap at her.

"Are you okay" she says after she flinched at my harsh tone, I regret that.

"Fine" I shrug, taking a hit from the cigarette in my hand.

"Are you sure" she raises an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I'm good" I was trying to avoid  making eye contact with her.

"Then why did you storm out of the cafeteria"

"I'm not in the mood to talk" I spit. Why was I being such an ass?

"Fine, I'll leave" she starts to turn away.

"Wait" she stops in her tracks.

"I'm sorry, I'm just angry with River" I say.

"Why" she looks me in the eye.

Cause he was flirting with you.

"That's between me and him" I frown.

"Look, I'm not gonna get in your private business but I'll be here to listen if you need to talk" she simply says. Again she tries to leave.

"Nora" I walk towards her after I call out her name.

"I'm an ass, please forgive me" I say with pleading eyes.

"I'm not angry at you, just your actions" she smiles up at me.

"Just say you forgive me" I beg.

"I forgive you" she giggles.

"Thank you, I'll talk about my problems later, give me a call tonight" I laugh.

"Carter I'm not sure that's a go-" I cut her off.

"Just to talk, not anything else" I scratch the back of my neck nervously.

"Oh I'm sorry" she starts to blush.

"I'll talk to yoy later" I kiss her forehead quickly before walking back into the school.
