Objects In The Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

River's POV

"Morning Nora" I greet her as she walks towards my motorcycle.

"Hi River" She gushes

"Let's go" I start the bike, I feel her small arms wrap around my torso before I spead off down the street towards the school.

Iwas going way to fast. I just wanted to show off my bike but of course the unexpected happened.

It all happened in a flash. One minute we were on the bike the next the car had collided with us and we were thriwn off the bike. Again in a flash. I was awake one minute the next I was out cold.

Carter's POV

"where the hell is Nora" I scream after i arrive in my first period class which we had together.

"She's probably just late" Miles adds.

"She's never been late" I run my hands through my hair.

"Miles! Miles!" I hear Aubrey shout. She was in tears.

"Babe what is it?" He asks.

"It's Nora....s..sh..he and th...e...n...he" she bursts out in tears.

"What about Nora?" I instantly jump in to ask.

"There's beenan accident" she tries to remain calm.

"Shit, shit, shit" I pase.

"Carter take your seat" my teacher yells.

"No, I need to leave. Miles Aubrey let's go" they follow me as I walk out of the school. The only thing keeping me sane was that girl, she can't leave now.

"Carter hold on a second" Aubrey yells.

"What" I growl.

"There's more, you can't get angry. You have to promise me you won't get angry"

"What...what more could there possibly be!?" I yell. All i wanted to do was see Nora.

"She was with River, they were on his bike. They were hit" I tried to remain calm but that f*cking dick hurt Nora.

"That f*cking bastard" I pile into my car as fast as I can. "Nora stay alive for me" I whisper to myself as i drive to the hospital.

"I'm looking for Nora Burrey" I rush towards the desk.

"Sir she's in the ER, we'll give you updates when she's stable" the Nurse says politely.

"What about River Lomeli?"

"One second, yes he's stable and in recovery" she smiles. "Take a seat sweetheart well bring you updates"

"Who are you and why are you asking about my daughter" a tall man asks me.

"You're Nora's father, I'm Carter Donin. I'm Nora's freind" I put out my hand for her dad to shake.

"Nice to meet you Carter. I mean it isn't the best place to meet but I'm glad she has more than one friend waiting for her. Oh and my name is Jay" he shakes my hand.

"Carter, don't do anything stupid" I hear Aubrey shout.

"Hey Mr Burrey" Aubrey smiles.

"Hi Aubrey how are you" Jay asks.

"Alright, I jist wish Nora wasn't in surgery or injured at all" Aubrey sighs.

"Burrey family" we see a surgeon walk towards us.

"That's us" Jay says.

"Hi I'm doctor Avery, Nora did have many severe injuries and there were several complications during the surgery but your daughter fought hard and is now stable" Dr Avery frowns.

"Great can we see her" I ask.

"There's also something I'd like to talk to you about" he turns to Jay.

"You can say it to them as well"  Jay frowns.

"Your daughter hasn't woken up and it doesn't seem likely she will for a while, what I'm trying to say is that she is in a coma"

"What about that young man my daughter was riding with" Jay asks.

"He's stable and has a room down the hall from Nora I believe it's 231 and Nora is in 337" I storm straight to the elevators when I hear this.

"Carter, stop" Miles chases after me.

"He probably feels like hell cut him some slack" Miles adds.

"He hurt Nora" I scream.

"He didn't mean too, calm down" Miles tries.

"I couldn't get her out of mind. It's been a short amount of time that I've known her but for some reason she's constantly on my mind. River, He hurt the one thing that I actually cared about. He's gonna have hell to pay" I scream.

"Wait right here Carter, I'll kick your ass if you step any closer to Rivers room"

"Miles hey" I hear River say.

"How's Nora?" He adds.

"River she's fine" Miles sighs. "Carter is about to come into this room, he's pissed"

"Hell yeah I'm pissed. He f*cking hurt Nora" I slam the door shut behind me.

"Carter, I'm sorry I'm so f*cking sorry." River starts.

"I don't give a shit what you think. That should be you in thay coma not Nora, she doesn't deserve this" I shout.

"Nora's in a coma, it's all my fault. I put her in a coma" River starts to cry and i didn't blame him.

"Carter leave, go see Nora" Miles tells me, and for once I listen to him.

"Nora" I walk towards her bed.

"We should leave them alone" Aubrey whispers to Jay. I hear shuffling of feet and the door close.

"Nora, baby. I'm sorry, I've been an ass to you and you don't deserve it. I need to make it up to you, and I'm gonna get a Chance to make it up to you. Please baby come back" I start to cry as i grab her lifeless hand rubbing small circles over it.

"Listen, I can't lose you. My world eould be pointless without you" the tears still pouring from my eyes.

"I won't give up on you"

"I won't give up on us"
