“Are we ready to go?” Heiji asked.
“Ran-nee-chan! Please hurry up!” Conan waved at the three girls who’s just coming down from their hotel.
“Sorry. There’s something wrong with Noemi-san.”
“What’s wrong?” Heiji asked.
“It’s so hot.” She slumped into the chair. “I can’t take it.” They have been 3 days in the hotel.
“I thought you wanted to go to the beach?” Conan eyed her while laughing. “Besides, isn’t it night already?”
“Thought.” She raised her pointer and dropped it again. “And, Conan-kun, don’t you know I got excited at the sea too much that I forgot to put sun screen.”
“You’re not having a heat stroke, are you?” Ran asked her and placed her hand on her forehead. “You want me to get some ice pack for you?” She smiled.
“Thanks.” She mumbled.
“Wait here.”
“Ran, you want me to come with you?” Kazuha called.
“Sure. Conan-kun, Heiji-kun. Please look after her.”
“I’ll go with you, Ran-nee-chan!” Conan volunteered but Ran shook her head.
“Stay with her, please. We’ll be back before you know it.”
“You should’ve come with them,” Noemi said in a feverish voice. Her face is turning pinkish and her mouth is dry.
“Nah. They can take care of themselves you know.” Heiji passed her a glass of cold water.
“I know but…” She trailed off and closed her eyes to sleep.
“Must be really hard for her to cope up in a tropical country.” Said Heiji. Conan nodded and surveyed the whole lobby of the hotel.
“There’s not much of people now.” He announced which made Heiji looked around himself. He nodded and damped a cloth with cold water.
“They sure are taking so long.” Conan said the same time as a man with huge build but strong accent had said.
“Uh… Excuse me. This may sound rude and imposing but can we please ask your friend to come and help us?” A man with long face and ponytail chocked while pointing at Noemi.
“No. She’s sick.” Heiji glowered at the man and his friends. “Can’t you see? She’s resting.”
“Oh, come on!” He complained.
“Leave now!” Conan stepped in between Heiji and the long-faced man.
“Ha~! Bratty kids! Bet they don’t even know what a word we’re saying, huh?” He turned towards his friends who laughed with him. “You know what, you should’ve just let us have her and you go home with your tails between your legs!” They all thundered with laughter.
Conan shot a nasty glance at them. He knew they we’re up to no good.
“You’re just pure talk. I’m sorry but she’s sick.” He began calming down. The group was startled.
“You can speak English?!” They said in unison.
“Hmn… Yup! Of course.”
“Dude, we are so sorry.” The guy with bonnet said.
“Maybe you should check things first.” Conan was now calming himself.
“Sorry…” They muttered.
“Hey!” They heard a familiar, masculine voice behind the group. “Sorry, I’m late!” He huffed. It’s Rico.
Everyone turned at him with long and repenting faces.
“What happened?”
“Hahaha!!!” Rico laughed—filling the whole lobby with his rich laughter. “You must not underestimate these kids! They are amazing!”
“Yeah. Dude… We’re sorry.”
“It’s ok.”
“We just wanted to ask your friend for direction but we are afraid that our Japanese stinks.”
“So we tried to find other tourists that looks like they are good in Japanese.”
“It’s ok. We understand.” Conan smiled.
“But Kate sure is taking her time, huh?”
“Yeah. She said she’ll be back in a jiff but she never is.”
“Kazuha and Ran is missing as well. Want to look for them?”
“Sure!”
With that said and Noemi resting in the infirmary of the hotel, they were off to search for them.
