“What?! Hattori-san isn’t with you?!” A girl with short, light brown hair asked.

“Yeah.” Ran answered rather disappointed too. “He took Conan-kun somewhere today. I hope he could tell me where he’s taking him one of these days.”

“Aww… And here I am, thinking that I could be with him for a day.”

“Sshh!!” Ran placed her pointer in front of their lips. “Quiet down a bit, Sonoko. It’s not like he can help it, right?” Ran said calming her raged friend.

“Sorry! I’m just a little bit disappointed.” Sonoko quickly covered her mouth. It was a secret that Heiji Hattori was in Tokyo since he’s been so popular these past few days.

“Really, Sonoko.” Ran complained to her best friend. She smiled seeing her friend happy again even though her own boyfriend, Makoto-san, was still in abroad defending his Karate Title.

“Ahahahaha… Sorry. I thought I could be friends with him since we are both high school students and are both great detectives! Think about how love would start to grow within the two of us!!” She blushed from her daydreaming. “Kyaa~~! Hattori-san!!” Sonoko shrieked from excitement.

“Sonoko… What about Makoto-kun?” Ran asked her. But Sonoko continued ignoring her while she’s daydreaming.

“Ran-chan…”

“What is it, Kazuha-chan?” Ran turned to her other side where Kazuha is. “Is something the matter?”

“What is she talking about?” Kazuha asked. Her forehead is full of vein pops. Her eyebrows were knitted as always and she’s gritting her teeth. She was just holding back from using her Aikido to Ran’s poor, defenseless best friend.

“Eh… Ah… Ano…” Ran said nervously. She should have warned Sonoko about Kazuha. “S—Sonoko! Stop it!” Ran scolded her friend.

“What?!” Sonoko asked. “I’m just…” She stopped. And then, turned pale as she saw a gloomy and murderous aura creeping behind Ran’s back. “Wha—What is that?!” She asked with tearful eyes. She was shivering as she backed away. She can feel the gloomy aura was pointing at her.

“Ka—Kazuha-chan! You too! Stop it!” Ran was now in panic stopping her two friends from starting a fight. “Sonoko… Say sorry to Kazuha-chan! Please!” Ran pleaded her friend.

“But… But…” Sonoko stuttered with her words.

“Please?!” Ran was in frantic holding Kazuha back.

“S—Sorry!!” Sonoko cried and bowed down. Then, a limousine stopped by and picked her up quickly. “We—Well, see you tomorrow, Ran, K—Kazuha!!”

“Eh? Sono…ko…” Ran trailed off as she was too shocked from the events that were happening. “She… left…” She said, still amazed.

“Ah! Where did Sonoko-chan go? She’s just here a while ago, right?! Sonoko-chan! Sonoko-chan!” Kazuha called upon Ran’s best friend but she was nowhere to be found.

“She left already.”

“Eh?! Why?!” Kazuha asked. “I thought she wanted to meet Heiji?!”

Ran laughed. It was a wonder how Kazuha forgot what just happened a while ago. That she is the reason why Sonoko left early.

“Anyways, let’s hurry back, ne?” Ran said. Kazuha nodded in agreement. “They might be back at the agency by now.”

“Mouri…? Ran Mouri?” A mysterious voice called out.

“Yes!” Ran said as she stopped on her tracks.

“What’s wrong, Ran-chan?”

“Someone called my name. Wonder who it is?”

“Ran. Are you really Mouri Ran?!” A girl with blonde, short hair suddenly appeared in front of them.

“Yes! I am Ran Mouri!”

“Shin-chan’s girlfriend, right?”

“Shin… chan…?” The two girls repeated puzzled as they look at each other. “Girl… friend?”

“Oh… Where are my manners?! My name is Noemi. Nice to meet you.”

“Ah… I’m Ran and this is my friend from Osaka, Kazuha-chan.”

“Nice to meet you, Noemi-san.”

“My… My… Can you come with me for a while? I need your help. I am a local Japanese citizen but just got back from where I came from. And, oh… This place has changed so much over the years and I can’t seem to find my way!!! Please!”

“Ah… Sure. I guess.”

“Thank you! I want to punish Shin-chan for not replying to my letter at all.” Noemi said as she pouted like a first grader.

“Shin… chan…” The two girls repeated again in unison.

“I definitely heard that word before. Shin-chan.” Ran told herself.

“Anyways… Let’s go!” Noemi pulled the two girls in a nearby tea shop.

“Ran-chan, what about Heiji and Conan-kun?” Kazuha whispered to Ran.

“Oh yeah… I know! I can ask someone for a favor! I think she could help us!”

“Ok.”
