Aspen was growing tired of Scott and Liam's squeaky shoes on the cement as they pushed against the mountain ash wall.

Stiles had already gone through to retrieve Lydia and Aspen was recuperating from unlocking the gate, her energy drained because of her slow progress in reading the pages Derek had sent her on learning to conserve and control.

Scott sighed once more, leaning back. "We're never gonna get through.."

Liam said between breaths, "You've gotten through it before though, right?" Scott parted his lips. "Uh.. It was a life and death situation.."

"And this isn't?"

Scott sent a glare at him. "This isn't just a circle. There's mountain ash in half the building.." He grimaced loudly and lifted his shirt revealing the wounds Theo had given him the night he died.

"That's also a problem," Aspen said feebly from her spot on the floor.

Liam sighed. "Stiles and Lydia had five minutes to get in and out. It's been almost ten. The reboot's over."

Scott huffed. "And the keycard doesn't work anymore.."

"And then there's the four security guards.."

Scott frowned. "What guards?" Aspen lifted a shaky hand to the four guards stomping down the hall towards them.

"Those guards."

Liam quickly helped Aspen to her feet, supporting her gently, as the guards came closer. The nearest drew his foot-long taser and swung it out to meet Aspen's jaw, sending her sprawling, and then used it to shoot a wave of electricity into Liam's stomach.

Scott fought off the other two, but not for long as they shoved him to the ground, shocking him repeatedly, the last guard yanking Aspen to her feet.

The worst pain she had ever felt was not the pain of the electricity coursing through her, sending jolts throughout her body, but it was watching and hearing them scream, knowing she couldn't do anything. Scott roared as the guard sent one last hit to his back, his eyes flashing red and the sound ringing in her ears.

Maybe she could do something.

A guttural scream ripped into way out of her throat as she gripped the guards shirt, a large ball of light glowing perfectly in the palm of her hand, and she shoved him away. The man hit the wall with a thud and she let out a long breath, before spinning and landing a kick on the guard that had Liam. He was sent into the gate as well, the wall cracking a bit in his wake.

Aspen turned back to Liam and Scott, her eyes glowing just as brightly as theirs were, chest heaving.

The silver light in her eyes faded away. She gave them a look, and Scott jerked his head to the side.

"Come on. We're getting Lydia out of here."

Scott took one of the radios from a guards belt, clicking it to life before asking, "Does anyone have eyes on the closed unit? I need a status report."

A guard responded. "It's a war zone down here."

Aspen shared an uneasy look with Liam, and he squeezed her clammy hand harder.

"Uh.. 10-4," Scott said, "And what about the patients? Lydia Martin?"

"Who is this?" The voice said through the radio. Scott silently panicked. "It's.. Unit Nine," he blurted.

"There is no unit nine."

Scott sighed. "Who is this? How did you get-"

The voice was cut off by Scott crushing the plastic in his palm before letting it drop to the ground. "We need to find another way into the closed unit," Aspen mumbled, panicky.
