Chapter 11: The Doll House

Back to Lucy's POV:

"Help Wanted for cashiers." Natsu read.

I shook my head no.

I sighed and stared at my bracelet. Even though we just started our job hunting, it seems like it's been a while already.

Back home the only job I had was babysitting our neighbors kid. So I guess you could say I'm not experienced with social jobs.

Natsu said that since I've never had a "real" job before that i'll have to start off with a small job like waiting tables.

I was looking window to window searching for a help wanted sign when
Boom it was there.

"Looking for new waiters. Female most preferred. Look Natsu! Here is one. I'm gonna look inside."

"Wait Lucy don't-"

I opened the doors. "Welcome home Master." I stared in awe at the girls in frilly maid costumes. They all had a smile on their face and look very sweet.

"What is this?" I turned to Natsu.

He folded his arms. "This is a Maid Cafe. It's basically a job where you serve people in a maid costume and call them Master."

I looked back at the girls. "We'll have one table please." I said.

One stepped out and nodded. "Please follow me."

Once we sat down, Natsu looked up at me. "Why are we staying here?"

I moved the bangs out of my face and gave out a grin. "Thought we needed a break. Besides," I leaned forward. "Who would pass up an opportunity to see how it works?"

He put his hand in his palm and stared at my eyes. We held that position for about 20 seconds then I looked away. My face was flushed red. He laughed. "You're an odd one Luce. I like it."

I twisted my bracelet and tried to hide in my hair. "You're the odd one here." I mumbled.

Then the waitress came. "Hello mister and mistress. What will you have today?"

I straightened out and looked at the menu. "I think I'll have a crepe. Chocolate and banana please."

She jotted it down and turned towards Natsu. "And for you Mister?"

Natsu closed the menu. "I'm gonna have 3 burgers. Also a salad."

The maid twitched. "Coming right up Mister and Mistress."

Classic Natsu.

"Um, so what about you? Do you already have a job I mean?" I said.

"That? Not really. My dad runs multiple companies so he says I don't need a job. Soon my old man is gonna pass it on to me."

My eyes glistened. "That sounds exiting! My dad is a business man."

He shrugged. "How about your mom?"

My expression slowly melted from a smile to a frown. "My mom used to be a florist. She's still alive but it's just her health is well... not stable. A doctor basically lives in the house to take care of her." I looked up and gave him an awkward smile. "But that's okay. I'm gonna try my best to support her health."
