Chapter 16: The Tryouts Part 2

In that very moment, it almost felt like all my senses were foreign to me. I couldn't see where I was, hear what was going on, or feel that I was standing in front of her.

It almost felt like time stopped and the world was reborn again. My heart would stop and reset. My brain would drain all my previous knowledge and replace it with an empty white wall.

My thoughts were numb.

Then they started to thaw.

Natsu's words slowly came into focus.

"Lisanna?! I haven't seen you in forever!"

Her eyes examined his facial features and almost immediately smiled. "Natsu! I knew that pink hair was familiar to me." She giggled. "I'm just kidding how could I forget you?"

Then she hugged him.

And my body was fully defrosted.

And my heart was being tugged.

Their embraced ended and she looked at me. "And who are you?"

She sounded like she was talking to a stranger. And by this time, I probably was. It had happened so long ago, of course she wouldn't remember me. Facial feature wise.

I opened my mouth to say something but all that came out was a airy whisper.

Thankfully, Natsu chimed in. "That's Lucy. She's here to tryout."

"Lucyyyyyyy..." She repeated. Then her eyes went large and she gasped. "Lucy from way back when!"

I nodded slightly, staring at the ground.
"Oh my gosh I haven't seen you in forever! Can I have a hug?"

I looked up and I could see her open up her arms, waiting. Why would she want to hug me? Me. The person who she hated. The person who she bullied. Why?

"Oh come on you." She came closer and wrapped her arms around me, embracing me in a hug.

I stood there, confused. Did she actually just hug me?

She let go and smiled. "So you're here for tryouts? Awesome! Hopefully you'll get in so that we can see each other at work!"

I nodded again and turned to Natsu. He was smiling at Lisanna. And Lisanna was smiling right back. It felt like my heart was at tug of war. And it was losing.

"Well let's get you settled and signed in for the tryouts Lucy!" Lisanna said, guiding us to the back office.

"It's good that you have another friend here with you Luce." Natsu whispered to me.

Friend. Sure, lets call it that.

"Erza-san, my friend Lucy is here for the tryouts." The white haired girl spoke into the office.

"Lucy?" Suddenly that familiar red hair peeked out from the office. "Lucy! Oh and Natsu."

I half smiled. "Yup we're here. Heh heh..."

Erza came up to me and gave me a bear hug which almost made me suffocate. Which in the process punched Natsu in the face? I'm not really sure how that happened.
