I was lazily lying in my bed chewing on the end of my pencil. I had finished my science revision, so I just stared at the piece of paper and day dreamed, when my mother walked into my room holding the phone to her chest. She leaned against the door frame and smiled.
'Alia,' she called out half whispering, 'Jay has left the hospital, he wants to talk to you,' she said smiling once again and left the phone facing down on my bed. As much I didn't want to even talk to Jay right now, I picked up the phone and muttered out a lousy hello into it.
'Hey,' Jay said very quietly. His voice sounded mousy, unlike it had ever sounded.
'You left your pink feathery pencil at the hospital,' he continued and paused at the end of that.
'You can keep it Jay, well if that's all you called to say then...'
'Do u hate me that much?' He cut in the middle of my sentence.
'Kind of, Jay' I said regretting it immediately, I could immediately see the hazel eyes of his droop and I couldn't even see him.
'I thought we were close Jay,' i said hoping to soften the blow.
'You can't ever imagine how much...' Jay said and I cut the phone. I was having a great time until he called.

'...I love you,' Jay finished, but the line had gone dead.

I finished my homework and I immediately got a text from Arya!
Me: lol great timing bro.
Arya: my birthday is coming up soon Alia, I want to celebrate it with you guys:)
Me: Sure Arya, that would be lovely.
Arya: ya because soon we will all be like 25 and such and then we will get married and leave.
Me: omg Arya, in like what ten years huh?
Arya: Alia, friends need to be close:)
Me: definitely Arya.

Arya was right. Friends did need to be close. I was slowly losing all my friends and I was feeling so sick inside. How could I be lonely. I had so many friends but I was so lonely on the inside, there was no one I could tell my secrets to anymore. Michaela had easily let me go and Jay didn't even care. I felt so let down on the inside, like I really wasn't worth anything to anyone, anymore. I decided being depressed wasn't going to cut it when I heard the doorbell ring. My dad ran upstairs to quickly get changed and my mother was in the kitchen, so I was left with no choice but to answer the door. I went and looked through the peephole, but it was too dark, but with people speaking Tamil behind the screen, I recognised they were my people. I opened the door and it was Jay and his parents.

'Hi Aunty, uncle welcome, mum is just in the kitchen and dad is just upstairs,' I moved to one side to let them in and that's when I say Jay. He looked so flushed with red covering his cheeks. I knew his parents were here to discuss the legal matters with mine, so I moved to the side to let him in.
'Cute braids,' was all he said before he hobbled in. I just looked down into a corner a furious blush decorating my already rosy cheeks. He whispered something to his mum before guiding me out of the door.
'I'm allowed to walk,' he said after noticing my face. He still understood me even after all this time.
I just stayed quiet and walked beside him, pacing my steps with his.
'You've never been this quiet ever.' He looked serious this time. We reached a park bench and I sat on one side, leaving an entire gap for him, yet he stood. We just looked in opposite directions for a bit until, I finally stood up because I could not be bothered being mean anymore. Instead, I went and leaned against a tree except what I didn't realise was that a tree was home to many different insects including spiders. Slowly, I felt something crawling through my hair and as I whipped it around, I caught the sight of two beady eyes looking at me, I panicked, shook my head and somehow landed in Jay's arms. He slowly picked the spider off of my hair, but ended up falling backwards. When he got up, he brushed a strand and of my hair back behind my ears.
'Alia you are such a clumsy person,' he said shaking his head and laughing.
'But you totally love me Jay,' I said making my famous puppy dog eyes.
'You can't imagine how much...' He whispered quietly into my hair.
