Things were becoming tense within our group; Lori was pregnant, and Rick was starting to get suspicious of the ordeal seeming as she was farther along than expected, and Glenn had discovered walkers being held in the barn.

Everyone seemed to be at each other's throats, and I tried to keep the peace, telling them we needed to work together. That our main concern should be about handling the walkers. "I'll get em," Daryl offered looking between both Rick and Glenn. Glenn shook his head, "No, Hershel wouldn't let us stay here after." Did we even want to stay here?

"I saw the chain holding the doors closed. It's loose, they're going to get out eventually. Why not end it while we're prepared?" I asked looking at Daryl from the corner of my eye. Rick nodded, placing his hands on his waist. "That may be our only option."

We went silent, letting it sink in, before Rick spoke up again. "Let's give it an hour. I'm going to go try and talk to Hershel, see if we can come to a mutual agreement." And with that he sauntered off with Glenn close at his heel, leaving the two of us alone.

He looked at me, "We should go get ready-" A scream interrupted him, and we turned to see Carol running towards us, a horde of walkers pushing their way out of the barn.

We started to run, Daryl preparing his crossbow as I pulled out my gun. The others beat us there, already shooting down a few that were close. I shot one in the head, and watched it fall to the ground, repeating this action with another walker. It was chaos; Hershel and his daughters screaming at us to stop, but no one paid them any attention. What caught my eye was a young walker, a girl, slowly making her way out of the barn.

"S- Sophia!" Carol cried out, making a move to run towards her, but Daryl wrapped his arms around her holding her in place. He looked at me, nodding his head and I turned back to the girl I now knew as the missing Sophia. I aimed my gun at her head and pulled the trigger, the horrific sound of Carol's cries filling my ears.

"Carol, go help the others!" I called back to her, and after some hesitation she did as I asked. The farm was over run with walkers, no longer was it safe to stay. I felt a hand grip my arm pulling me away. "C'mon!" Daryl growled, and he led me to his motorcycle. I looked back at the farm as we drove off, taking in the horrors of what could have been.
