Chapter12- EASY WORDS

"Wow this place is really nice, its very relaxing" I admired looking around, we were currently at a Spanish restaurant in the middle of Rio, the place was nice and quiet , quite peaceful.

"Yeah it's actually my uncle's" Matthew boasted happily.

"Oh" was all I had to say.

The waiter came asking for our drinks order and Matthew turned to me.

"Do you wanna celebrate with some wine?"

Oh no! Shit I couldn't.

"Um I can't, Im not a fan of wine sorry" I muttered trying to not be obvious that I was lying.

"Oh okay" he said looking disappointed. He then ordered us some Spanish juice which tasted horrible but I pretended to like it so he wouldn't feel bad.

We were quiet for a long time which was quite awkward until he spoke.

"So you are engaged" he stated looking at Andrew's ring on my finger.

"Something like that" I whispered not wanting to talk about this.

"How long are you guys together?" he asked continuing the conversation. I looked at him quite pissed that he was being so nosy.

" A few months but Mr.Martinez this topic is inappropriate" I stated watching him seriously. This statement reminded him that I was his manager and it wasnt appropriate to ask your boss that.

"Oh , I apologize Ms.Brooks. So how was your first day of work? " he quickly said changing the topic.

"It was great, everyone was really nice" I happily replied now that the topic was on a lighter tone.

"Yeah well everyone doesn't wanna get on your bad side you know" he muttered putting his fork full of food in his mouth and chewing.

I was taking a drink of my juice when he said that and I almost choked. What does he mean?

"What are you trying to say Matthew?" I asked sternly. Is he disrespecting me?

"I mean your gonna fire half the staff to hire your own people?" he spat in disgust.

"Fire? You damn bastard! That was never my intentions" I shout whispered while picking up my purse from the table and standing up.

"So this is why you brought me to dinner. So I wouldn't fire you!Goodnight Mr.Martinez" I muttered angrily before storming out the restaurant.

As I reached the front door to the building ,my phone begun to ring and Kyle's number came up.

"Hey little sis, Bridget's having the baby now. We at St. Rosa Hospital" Kyle said very quick before hanging up.

Baby? Urg! The baby is coming. I looked around for my car remembering Matthew picked me up.Urg!

Suddenly I felt someone's presence so I turned around to see Matthew looking embarrassed and hurt.

"Evangeline atleast let me drop you home, I'm really sorry" he whipped.

"Matthew listen if you trying to save your job you don't have to because I will not fire you. I saw your file, your great at your job and your quite professional I wouldn't move you. So you don't need to pretend to care" I screamed with tears in my eyes. This was the hormones again! Urg!

His face softened.

"I never thought you would have fired me, I actually really like you.Your beautiful and smart so please don't cry" he whined while coming towards me and hugged me.

"Can you drop me to the hospital please" I said through sobs.

"Hospital?Are you feeling sick?" he asked nervously.

"No my umm, someone is having a baby" I whispered my voice hoarse from crying.

"Um ok" he agreed.

When we arrived I quickly jumped out the car so that I wouldn't miss the birth of my nephew because I was supposed to watch Bridget deliver the baby so I would know what to do when it was my turn.

I ran to the Maternity Ward and asked for Bridget who was now carried to the delivery room.

"Evangeline!" someone shouted.

I turned to see Matthew running towards me. Urg! What does he want??

"Are you okay?" he asked with sincere concern.

"Yes but I have to go in the delivery room now. Thanks for dinner, I would see you at work" I answered hastily.

"Ms.Brooks, we need you in the delivery room now, she is ready to push. The doctor is there" a nurse said from behind me.

"I gotta go " I quickly said to Matthew before running off with the nurse.
