It was lunchtime now. I was sitting with Alexa and her friends. Alexa and I were friends in elementary school, but had grown distant ever since. I didn't really like sitting with her, but Owen had the first lunch shift, and I didn't have many close friends.
"So Olivia, your countdown ends today, doesn't it." Alexa said. "I bet he'll be super ugly. And rude."
"I don't think that really matters." I said. "If it's meant to be, it's meant to be right? And besides, he's my soulmate. I'm sure that I'll find him attractive, whatever he looks like." Or at least, I hoped I would. Sure, I was excited, but I was also terrified. What if he was super ugly? What if he thought I was ugly? What if he hated me, and wanted nothing to do with me? What if I hated him? You couldn't reject your soulmate, could you? I'd never heard of it happening before, and I definitely didn't want to be the first.
Alexa laughed "sure, whatever you say".

Owen and I were walking home. School had just ended, and not knowing where I should go, I decided to act like nothing was unusual at all.
"How much time is left?" Owen asked.
I checked my wrist. 00h 3mm 45s. It was almost time.
"3 minutes" I whispered. We walked up to our street. Almost home. Was my countdown right? What if I went home and never met him? I didn't know where to go or what to do.
Suddenly, I felt an urge to take a left, instead of a right. I turned left and kept walking, towards the park.
"Where are you going?" Owen called.
"I don't know!" I yelled back. And suddenly I was running. It felt like something was pushing me, guiding my feet, leading me towards my destiny.
2 minutes
I was running out of breath, but I couldn't slow down. I had to get there in time, had to meet him.
1 minute
I reached the park, but kept running.
30 seconds
Where is he? Shouldn't I be able to see him by now?
15 seconds
I stopped abruptly. I can see a boy, his back to me, looking up at the clouds. Is that him?
10 seconds
My heart is pounding
5 seconds
He turns around

He sees me. I know he does

Our eyes lock. He starts walking towards me.
