As it turned out, school was a lot less exciting then I'd hoped. It was already halfway through the day, and I'd yet to have a class with Isaac. And now it was time for lunch with Alexa.
"Have you seen that new guy yet?" She asked me, "he's in my math class and he's super hot."
"No," I replied, sure that she was talking about Isaac. "I haven't seen him yet today."
"Today? So you've seen him before then?"
"Well..." I started, but before I could finish, I was hug attacked from behind.
"Hey," Isaac whispered. "I haven't seen you all day."
"I know, I was looking for you." I smiled. "But I'm glad we have lunch together."
"So I'm assuming new guy is your soulmate?" Alexa interrupted.
I could feel heat rising to my cheeks. Isaac looked at me and laughed. "Yes, I'm Isaac." He said, "nice to meet you."
"Charmed." She said. "How did you two meet?"
"In the park. I felt like I should go there, and there he was, waiting for me."
"It looked like she'd just been running." He said, taking a seat next to me."
"That's because I had." I smiled, and took his hand. "I guess something didn't want me to be late."
"Well, I'm glad you weren't. That would've been awkward." We chuckled, "oh yes, you've had this countdown for your whole life that tells you the exact second you'll meet you're soulmate, but she doesn't like running so she'll be a little late."
"At least I wasn't standing there staring at the clouds." I teased.
"What can I say? I like nature."
"Me too." And with that our eyes were locked again. He leaned towards me, and I thought he was going to kiss me. But of course, Alexa had to interrupt.
"Yes, hello, I'm still here. Please save your flirting for your own time."
Isaac sighed and pulled away. "Sorry," he muttered.
"No," I whispered, "you don't have to be sorry."
He gulped, and looked away. "So," he said awkwardly, "what classes do you have left today?"
"Just choir and math." I told him. "You?"
"Choir and English."
"You're taking choir too? Why didn't you tell me?"
He grinned sheepishly. "Well, you said you were taking it, so I switched my schedule so at least we'd have one class together."
"Oh" I smiled at him, "that's awesome! What part do you sing?"
"Umm..." He scratched his head. "I'm not really sure."
"Do you like singing low notes or high notes?" I asked.
"Oh! I'm more in the middle I guess? But I prefer higher." He's so cute when he's confused.
"You'll probably sing tenor then, which is perfect because I'm an alto. We can probably sit next to each other."
He grinned. "I'd like that."
