My first reaction when I got to camp was one of amusement. I didn't believe a word "Percy and Annabeth" were saying. It just wasn't possible for demigods to exist. Believe me, I hoped and fangirled over the PJOO series, but it couldn't be.
I was so skeptical that I asked to leave camp half blood, but no one would let me. I began to panic. I tried running, but people held me back. Annabeth tried to sooth me with calm words, but nothing would work. Percy was telling me about cool powers I could possibly have, but I just wanted out of the loony bin called "camp half blood".
Suddenly something formed above my head. I looked up and saw a glowing chalice. Chalice? Okay, so I was a demigod...but a chalice? I'd never read anything about chalices. I heard gasps around me and people started yelling for Chiron. My eyes started to well up in fear, what was I supposed to do?!
Annabeth grabbed my arm harshly, but quickly let go....in fear? I directed my gaze to Percy who was staring at me with wide eyes and a nervous expression. What was this all about?!
"Rubberduckyy2, you need to come with me and Perce right now. And whilst we walk, don't touch anyone."
I remained quiet until we got to the big house. I looked up again and the chalice was gone. I heard a cough and I realized that Chiron was in front of me talking in a hushed tone with Annabeth.
"Yeah.....young.....we had no idea it was this serious."I heard snippets of the conversation and my pace quickened, something was wrong. I began to plan an escape...
"Rubberduckyy, it is a pleasure to meet you."My gaze settles on a worried Chiron who was introducing himself." I don't know how to put this, but you are the daughter of the goddess of Hebe."The name didn't ring any bells and I assumed that she was probably a very minor goddess.
"And...."I trailed off
"Your mother is not extremely important in Olympus, but she is still powerful. Hebe is the goddess of youth. She can grant youth, take it away and she protects the fountain." I sucked in a large breath of air. This was all to much for me to handle.
"Rubberduckyy remember in at the beginning of the school year when you grabbed Ms. Stile's hand and the next day she looked like 10 years younger?"I nodded. honestly, I thought she had just started using a new face cream. "That was you."
"Unfortunately this year we have had many prophecies and another one has been added the list.I'm sorry to say that right now you're the only daughter of Hebe in existence, and the prophecy pertains to you."
Annabeth cleared her throat, " A child of Hebe shall be the key,
but they must walk lightly,
for the fountain of youth is in no one's hands,
an evil force will take it's last stand,
Eternal youth, eternal life, stop the force or face the strife."
This sounded bad. Scratch that....really bad.
