Song: Mourning Doves
(Trust me, listening to that song while writing this chapter hurt.)

I've been banned from the Pines twins before... I think you guys are only going to enforce that from here.

Ah gawd feels.

SO, WHO'S READY TO WATCH SHOOTING STAR'S LIFE FALL APART?! :D
I AM!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

(Ignore that last part)

Now here's the chapter:

She had looked for ways to get Dipper back for a month. They had tried Bill's summoning circle, using the changed symbols that Dipper had shown. However, switching the Pine Tree symbol and Bill's symbol didn't work.

Ford said that the circle must have changed even more. When Mabel had asked what that had meant, he had simply said that it was highly likely that Dipper wasn't the Pine Tree symbol anymore.

However, they had tried a few more times, under the presumption that it was possible that they had simply messed up in drawing the circle. Those times it hasn't worked either.

Stan had suggested that they could even put the portal back together again. Ford had explained that it was not only highly unlikely that it would even open to the Nightmare Realm again, but that it would take too long to put back together.

They had all argued about that one. Mabel had said that it was worth the wait. Ford had said that Dipper had left for a reason, and it was a bad idea. Stan had tried to support both sides. After all, Stan understood Mabel's point of view very strongly, but he knew that Ford was probably right.

And with that argument, Ford refused to help them search for ways to get Dipper back. Mabel knew he wasn't trying to hurt her, it hurt him too, it was obvious. She just wanted some support.

However, Stan, one the other hand, tried to help her. They just couldn't do much with what they knew. Ford had been the brains. So had Dipper.

Mabel wanted to hide in the darkest place in the universe whenever she thought of her brother. She kept herself busy to think about something else. Anything else, really.

Normally, that would have meant fantasizing about a cute boy... But now it meant heard work and using what was left of the first journal to solve their family issue.

It was a week until their birthday, and she wanted a reason to celebrate when that day came around. She didn't--couldn't--go back to Piedmont without Dipper. How would she explain it to her parents.

They didn't make any progress, and suddenly she only had one day left.

Stan finally called her parents. Mabel his in her room in the attic while she heard her parents screaming at her Grunkle from the other side of the door. Of course, they didn't buy the whole supernatural thing.

The next day, they were there themselves to pick her up. Ford and Stan tried to explain, but Mabel's parents were having none of it. Soon they had left Gravity Falls. Mabel was too tired to argue or cry.

It was worse the first day of school. Mabel refused to talk to any of her friends. Or her teachers.

She decided that she hated school. Even after the teachers and most of her friends had found out that her brother, her brother, had died, they had acted like nothing was wrong. The few that showed pity just seemed to annoy her.
