One-Shot #4-Edward Elric: When...
"Uhm, hey Ed." You said.
"Yeah? What is it Avery?" Edward said lifting his arm up and down.
Ed and his brother Al had just come back from a place you always forget and Ed had his auto mail broken again.
"You're staying here for a few days right?"
"Yep, Winery had to mail order some parts for my legs." He said smiling.
"Right...Would you, if you don't mind, teach me alchemy?" You folded your hands together and looked at him with your best puppy dog eyes.
"I'm not sure." Ed said avoiding your facial plea.
"Oh come on! Pwease!?" You moved into his view and pleaded closer to his face.
"Why do want to know alchemy in the first place?" He turned his head away from you again.
You sighed and sat next to him in a chair..
"Because...I'm not good at things." You sighed. "I'm clumsy and not so very smart. I always like to watch Winery fix parts on a machine or on Al or you. I'm not that good with auto mail parts...or anything else to be specific."
You rubbed the back of your head.
"So I thought that if I could do alchemy, like you and Al, I might be finally good at something..."
"Avery," Ed looked at you, "You don't need to learn alchemy to be good at something. You're nice to people and me and Al. To your sister Winery and Granny and to lots of other people too."
You smiled as you heard Ed compliment you.
"Sure you can be dumb at times and you do tend to fall alot,"
You hung your head. Ed was being truthful, but...did he have to be so out there?
"but you get right back up and try your hardest to do great at something even though you already are. You're realy helpful around the place, even if you don't realize it."
You looked at him and he smiled at you. You smiled back.
"Enough with the sweet talk crap. You're still teaching me." You said through your smile.
Ed just sweat dropped. "Eh-heh...can't hurt for trying right?"
You smack him in the back of the head.
The next day Ed started to teach you. You, surprisingly, learned quickly. You told Ed that you read some books about alchemy and even tried some.
"You what!?" Ed yelled.
"I was careful Ed!" You explained. "I chose the ones that weren't dangerous at all."
He still looked angry. Ed huffed and sat down.
"Just be careful alright? Alchemy isn't something to fool around with."
"I know, I know." You looked at the ground. " I know the dangers..."
You and Ed practiced alchemy late into the night. Ed had fallen asleep on the table and you were doing a small transmutation on a plank of wood and a couple of nails.
"Okay, now Ed said to make a transmutation work, I would have to do-"
Knock. Knock.
"It's opened...!" You turned your head to the door.
It was Winery.
"Hey, how's your alchemy going?" She asked, stepping into the room.
"It's going good." You told her. "Though, I lost my train of thought when you knocked on the door."
"Oh sorry!" She apologized. "I didn't mean to!"
You smiled at her. "It's alright. Don't worry about it."
You then set back to work on your transmutation. There was a little silence in the room and then Winery broke it.
"So, when are you and Ed going to go out?"
You jerked up and turned a beet red.
"Wh-Why would you ask that!?!" You yelled out and then covered your mouth because of Ed sleeping in the room.
Ed stirred a bit but just rolled his head to the other side.
"Why would you ask that?!" You whispered to Winery.
Winery leaned in and whispered to you.
"I know how you like him." She teased. "That's why you asked him to 'teach' you alchemy."
"So not true!"
"Why's you face so red then?"
That got you to shut up. You turned away from her and felt your face. You were red... You heard Winery giggle and then her getting up.
"It's alright to like him, Avery." She ruffled your hair. "He's a great guy to fall for."
She then left. You looked at her in confusion as she left.
"Great guy to...fall for...?" You said under your breath.
You brushed the bangs out of your face and continued to work on your alchemy...tried to any way. You sighed and scratched your head really hard. You turned your head and looked at Ed. You crawled over to him and looked at him from the floor. You gazed at him and huffed. Maybe Winery was right. You probably liked Ed. As you continued to look at him, you started to see how handsome he looked...until you saw the drool dripping over the edge of the desk.
"Maybe I don't like him..." You grimaced and turned away from him.
The next day you woke up to birds singing. You rubbed your eyes and sat up.
"Weird...How'd I get into bed?" You could of sworn you fell asleep on the floor.
You got out of bed and headed downstairs.
"Grandma, Winery." You walked into the kitchen.
"Uh, yeah Avery?" Winery said.
"Yes?" You grandma responded.
"Where's Al and Ed?" You asked. "I can't find them."
"They just left." You grandma said.
"What?"
You couldn't believe it. They left with out you saying good bye to them. You rushed out of the house to you bike.
"Wait Avery! Where are you going!?" Winery yelled out to you.
"To Ed and Al!" You shouted into the house. "They can't leave without my good bye!"
And with that you raced off, pedaling as fast as you could down the road. You spotted them and smiled.
"ED! AL!" You shouted.
They turned around and saw you. You waved to them but then you hit a big bump. You fell off you bike and fell forwards towards Ed. When you landed, you realized that you were kissing Ed! You quickly got off him.
"Avery are you alright!?" Al asked.
"I-I'm fine Al." You told him.
"Oh that's good to hear."
You nodded.
"What are you doing here any way?" Ed asked, getting up.
"I, uhm, wanted to say good bye..."You rubbed the back of your head and avoided eye contact with him.
"That's all?"
"No." You then started to kick the dirt. "I wanted to know...when you'll teach me alchemy again..."
"I don't know."
You saw Ed's feet in front of you and looked at him. He was really close to you and before you could take a step back he pulled you into a hug.
"I'll try to get back as fast as I can so I can teach you. You'll do fine without me for now. Just be careful." He said into your ear.
He let go and smiled at you.
"Come on Al. Lets get going." Ed turned around and headed down the road.
You stood there, watching as Ed and Al walked away from you. You smiled, knowing he'll be back. Weither it's a broken auto mail part or not.
------------------------------
"Hey brother." Al said walking next to his brother.
"Yeah Al?" Ed said.
"When are you going to go out with Avery?"
