One-Shot #12: Soul Eater Evans: What I like
You were walking down the halls of Shibusen when you hear your name being called out.
"Hey, Arilyn, wait!"
You turned around on your heels and saw Maka running up to you. She stopped in front of you with a smile.
"Do you want to come over to my house to study?" She asked. "I heard there was going to be a big test tomorrow so I thought it would help if I had a group study at my house."
You cupped your chin as you thought about her offer. "Yeah sure. I'm having trouble understandings somethings in class anyway." You gave her a smile.
"Great. Let's go." Maka smiled back at you and you both head over to her house.
At her house, Soul was already there, laying on the couch and eating something from a bowl as he had waited for Maka and you.
"Oh, you're here too, Soul?" You said in a bit of a questionable tone.
"Yeah," Maka said to you. "I thought he would need some help too."
"More like forced me here against my will." Soul interjected. "I already said I could do fine on that test."
"You know that's not true." Maka deadpanned at him.
"So what's the test going to be over about?" You asked.
"Oh that," Maka turned to you with a smile before heading off somewhere. "I already got the books to cover what's on the test."
When she came back, your eyes and Soul's eyes widened in shock at how many thick books Maka was carrying in.
"That's so much!" You commented.
"Geez, Maka, did you bring the whole library with you?!" Soul questioned.
Maka placed her hands on her hips in a sort of defensive manner as she explained, "I just wanted to make sure I can cover everything on the test."
"Well, I guess we have a lot of reading to go through then, huh?" You sheepishly smiled. "Uh, hey, what about everybody else? Death, Patty, Liz, Star and Tsubaki? Aren't they coming to study with us?"
"They told me they had other things to do." Maka explained.
"As in, they didn't want to do a group study because they knew how Maka studied." Soul said, picking a book up before placing it on the coffee table.
Maka threw a glare at him. You sat down in front of Soul while Maka went to go take out more books from where ever she was keeping them. You picked up a book and opened it.
"There's so much to read." Your eyes moved from side to side as you looked at the words in the book, skimming them in stead of actually reading since you didn't want to read all of the books.
"Might as well skim, at least we aren't writing everything down." Soul picked up another and opened it before reading with a slight frown.
"Maka is a bit of a book worm, isn't she?" You smiled.
Soul looked up. "Yeah, but it does get annoying."
"I think it's kind of cute. It makes her smart and strong." You pulled the book down a little as you glanced in the direction Maka went to get more books. "I like that about her."
"Oh yeah? What about the others?"
"Well, Kid is pretty smart. Patty is so optimistic, and Liz is very caring. Star is really energized while Tsubaki can have so much patience. And Maka's dad is loving, and Lord Death can be pretty funny. Everyone else, well, I don't really know them enough to really say. I'm a bit too shy to get to know them."
"Hey, I think you missed someone." Soul said.
You looked at him. "Huh? Who?"
He said back and put his hands behind his head. "He's sitting right in front of you. What do you like about me?"
"Oh!" You pulled the book a little close to your face as your cheeks flushed a little with pink. "Uh, I like...uhm...your teeth?"
Soul raised an eyebrow. "Huh? My teeth?"
You forced a bit of a smile on your face as you nodded. "Y-Yeah! They're sharp and cool looking!"
There was a moment of awkward silence between the two of you before Soul smiled a litte.
"I guess they do."
Soon Maka came back and the three of you all studied well into the night until you had to go back home. Maka had fallen asleep and Soul offered to walk you back home.
"I'm sure I can handle myself, I am a student at Shibusen after all." You said to him.
"Jack's not with you, you don't have a weapon." Soul put his hands in his pocket as he got up from his spot on the couch.
"Our wavelengths won't be able to match. I'm not really good with that." You added.
"Well, I'm coming anyways."
And so he walked with you back to your place. As you both walked down the street and the moon was smiling high above, you couldn't help but glance from time to time at Soul and blush a little. To tell the truth, you wanted to say you liked everything about him when he asked you what you liked about him. You liked his fighting abilities, his personality, his strength. And all you said was a stupid thing about his appearance while you listed a trait from everyone one else. You felt pretty embarrassed about that. Soon you both reached the front door of your house.
"Alright, I guess I'll see you and Maka tomorrow then." You turned to him after you took a step towards you front door.
"Yeah, see ya." You turned halfway before Soul said you name. "Hey, Arilyn,"
"Hm?" You turned back to him.
"You know a thing I like about you?"
Your face dusted with pink for a moment. "No."
You saw him smirk a little. "You look cute when you blush."
Your face went completely red then and there. Soul turned around and waved good bye to you.
"Have a good night, Arilyn."
"Ye-yeah...You too..." You said to him, your face still flushed tomatoe red. "Soul."
