Chapter 4 - Midnight Ambush

After what seemed like days Gale, along with his childhood friend Saria who were reunited after many years, have been found an exit within the temple Dritanx. "FINALLY!" Gale shouted into the open skys,"Its been so long since I saw the real sky. By the way Saria, where are we?". Gale heard no response and turned his head look for her. "Saria?" He said with a worried voice. Gale searched the vicinity but saw no trace of her. He decided to take a break and sat by a nearby tree. He let out a long sigh,"Where could this girl be?"."BOO!" Saria shouted as she fell out the tree scaring Gale almost to death.
"AHHH!" Gale scream and then began to catch his breath. "Saria why? Just why would you do that?" Saria began to laugh hysterically, " Oh come on Galey you know its all fun after all you're still the Gale I remember, scared of everything that comes your way." She began to laugh some more as the bright sunshine was coming to an end. "Well what do you know, its night already. How about I go prepare us a camp. You look like you could use some time alone after that little prank." Saria said then proceeded to jump into the trees and vanished into the shadows.
Gale recovering from that scare thought to himself,"She was right, ever since I could remember I would get scared from everything even the most harmless of things. I may have matured and became some what of a braver man but if I must do what my father once did years ago." Gale clinched his hands into a fist and stared at them, "Then I swear I will do everything I can to surpass the trails ahead!" He looked into the starry night sky,"And purge this world of evil once again."
"Very good my child, you are progressing well." Said a familiar voice. "Yu-Yuris is that you?" Gale said looking around him for the voice. "Yes my child, do not waste your energy it will be important in the near future." Yuris said as she created an empty vessel of he spiritual self."What do you mean?" Gale asked. "Soon my child but first I have come to you with a token from the light." Yuris closed her hands together and shined a light onto Gales body engulfing him in white."You were given the ability of Star Strike. Use it only when things look grim as its power can only be used once every night.".Gale looked back at Yuris and asked,"Yuris why I'm I the one chosen the live this path?"."Only time will tell my child. My corporeal form is slowly losing its life essence so farewell my child until next we meet." Yuris said has her body began to melt away into the earth."YURIS WAIT!" Gale said but was too late.
"Star Strike huh well I guess I'll have to wait to find out its true power." Gale said staring at the stars. "GALEY GET OVER HER! THE CAMP IS SET UP!" Saria shouted. "Ok Saria I'm coming just give me a second." Gale said as he got up and walked over to the bright light of fire and makeshift tents of sticks, vines and animal leather. "Hope your hungry because I got us some wild Gargoross meat." Saria said licking her lips. "Gargoross meat! They are so rare and tough. How did you even get one?" Gale asked licking his lips as well. "Hehehe well you see, I saw a wild heard and gained their trust with some apples and other fruits on these trees and then I got one to come with me alone and well here he is over the fire." Saria said with a smirk on her face."Oh ok that's cool" Gale said with some doubt to that story knowing Saria.
Gale's ears twitched,"Did you hear it!"."Hear what?" Saria asked. Behind Gale a tree branch fell making a loud thud. "Something's not right here. Saria stay on high alert, we might nor be the only ones in this forest tonight." A sudden arrow flew by Gale's face and just grazed him. "SHOW YOURSELF!" Gale shouted.
"My, my, my aren't you a quite fond bunch. The two of you shall make great trophies in my house." The mysterious voice said. "Wait I know that voice!" Saria said,"Its the rumored hunter Cain. He's wanted by the king for over ten thousand gold dead or alive.". "Oh always a pleasure to meet a fan especially the cute ones like you." Cain said as he jumped out of the forest and into the light. "You pig! Come on Gale let's get this guy.". "Now this is what I like. A good old beat down." Gale said brandishing his sword.
Cain shot an arrow at Saria imbued with a weakening poison,"Now where's the fun in that two against one.". "Saria are you ok?" Gale shouted looking back at a limp Saria. "Its fine. What he shit at me isn't lethal but I wouldn't be able to do much for a couple of days.". "Cleaver girl, ok sword guy how about a wager, you win I give the antidote." Cain said with a psychotic grin. "And if I lose?" Gale asked. " If you lose the girl is MINE! AH HAHAHA!" Cain said manically,"However if you deny then I'll just KILL HER!". "Gale do It if you can take me down in a fight I know that joker's nothing for you." Saria said resting at a nearby tree. "Ok Cain I accept. Hope your prepared to burn in Hell!".
"With stakes this high it time I use my full power!" Cain said. He began to lift his bow in the air. A mystic black vortex swarmed around the bow fueling it with dark energy. "It was nice meeting you!". A volley of arrows flew out of Cain's bow into the air. Gale dashed towards Cain dodging and defecting the dark arrows. "The dark is weak against light now its time for your final act." Gale said has he sliced Cain's bow into two and inflicting a wound onto his chest deadly to any normal human.
"Argh! My bow. Oh you did it now!" The bow began to reform itself but this time it has became more reinforced."I hope you like what you did because my performance has just began. MIRROR IMAGE!". Cain's body split into duplicates of himself. "Can you tell which one is the real me!" All the duplicates said in unison creating an echo throughout the forest. "What do I do now!" Gale thought look at the multiple Cains. Each duplicate took shots at Gale. Despite Gales agility there were too much for him to handle. Things looked bleak for Gale until he heard an echo in his head "My child do not forget the light" and then he remembered. He got up from the ground and raised his hand into the air. "Still alive? Well then let's end it" Cain said proudly. "I agree!" Gale said confusing Cain, " Gods of light here my plea and bring down the stars of this night wrath to vanquish the dark and protect the light!"
The gods grants his wish bringing down the shower of immense strength. "No it can't be! I am a god this cannot happen!" The clones began to disappear as they got hit," this isn't the end, Gale I'll remember this defeat and come back stronger just you wait!" Cain said as he vanished into smoke just before he was struck.
"Heh that takes care of that.". A bottle came rolling to Gales feet. It was the antidote. "Here Saria take this and get some rest we got a big day tomorrow." Gale said help Saria drink the antidote. "Thanks Galey I knew you wouldn't let me down." Saria said and rested her head on Gale's shoulder. "Let's get this adventure started." Gale said has he slowly fell asleep.
