Living a lie

"Audrey" Max called as Audrey walked into the police station, gasping when she saw him and Lily. "Oh darlings" She went up to wrap them in a hug.

"They wont tell me where mum and dad are"

Audrey looked at the officer who got to his feet "can i just take them home"

"Later. Just need to see your driven licence"

Audrey pulled out her driven licence to show the police officer exactly who she was. The officer nodded "i'll need to interview Max if thats alright. I just need a reletive present"

"Okay thats fine." Audrey agreed.

David waited patiently for the police officer to come back as he twiddled with his thumbs. He wondered what Kylie had said.

The door suddenly opened as the officer walked back in. Looking annoyed as he took a seat opposite David again. "Your wifes told us everything"

Davids eyes widend slightly as he looked at him. "Has she"

"Yeah. Now how about you tell us your version"

"Well if she's already told your lot what happened. Why do you need me?"

"We don't believe her on certain things she said"

David held up his hand once more. "The ring says it all"

"Alright. If that's what you want. David Platt, i'm charging you with preventing the course of justice, dangerous driving, theft of a vehicle and indangering the lifes of two children"

Sarah sat in the hospital room stairing at her son. The love and affection she so wanted to be there wasn't there and she hated herself for not feeling any love for her child.

Gail slowly walked back into the room looking like she had just been hit with a ton of bricks.

"Mum?"

"That was your gran. She got called to pick up Max and Lily"

Sarah sat up. "David and Kylie have been found?"

Gail nodded. "Aparently nobody is telling her whats happening to them"

"Hes told everything. I know it. The police are going to be after me next" Sarah said as she burst into tears. Gail ran forward to wrap her in a hug as Bethany walked in with two coffees. "Did i miss something"

"Now Max, do you want a drink"

Max shook his head, gulping slightly. Audrey resting a hand on his hand.

"Okay. First off. Do you know whats going on"

"No" Max muttered.

"Well your parents did something wrong but i want to know have you noticed anything odd with your parents. Maybe you picked up something that sounded weird"

"No" Max shook his head and glanced at Audrey who let out a sigh.

"What about your dad, your real dad. Don't you find it strange that you havn't seen him in awhile"

"I don't want to see him. I wish he was dead" Max said much to the officers surprise. "Can i sed my mum and dad"

"I'm afraid you can't. Both of your parents are going away for awhile"

"For godsake, will you please tell us whats happening to my grandson"

"Kylie is currently being charged with second degree murder and your grandson is being charged with preventing the course of justice, theft of a vehicle, dangerous driving and indangering the lifes of children"

"Murder?" Max looked at Audrey and then back at the police officer. "Mum killed someone?"

"Can we leave now" asked Audrey.

"Who did mum kill?"

"No i still need to ask some more questions"

"Mum killed someone. Who was it?"

Audrey put her head in her hands before looking at Max. "Whatever your parents did they did it to protect you" Audrey glanced back at the officer. "Is it Callum?"

"Thats what Kylie is saying" the officer nodded as Max stared wide eyed at them "Callum? My dad?"

"The tests on the deceased should be finished soon. Just to make sure it is him."

Max didn't know what to say. He was too shocked. Audrey pulled him to her chest as he processed what was happening.

In the morgue. A woman was handiling the bones of Callum. The dental records should prove his identity. A peice of paper was placed in front of her by her assistant.

She took a glance at the paper in confusion and then back at the bones on the table. Something really wasn't right.

After a long grilling in which Max said nothing of importance, him, Audrey and Lily were walking through the hospital till they spotted Gail.

"Oh Max" gasped Gail opening her arms for her grandson. Max ran in them without hesitation. "Mum killed dad. My real dad"

Gail looked up at Audrey who nodded. "Lets talk with Sarah. She needs to hear this"

Gail nodded and walked into Sarahs hospital room with Max beside her and Audrey carrying Lily behind them.

Sarah quickly sat up. "Gran, whats happened" bethany sat beside Sarah also looking worried.

"Kylies been charged with second degree murder, Davids been charged with preventing the course of justice, theft of a vehicle, dangerous driving and indangering the lifes of children"

"What about me?" Sarah asked. Audrey rolled her eyes getting annoyed by the minute at Sarahs all about me attitude.

"Oh you silly girl. Did you really think either of them would grass you up when from what you said, it sounds like you were hardly involved really. Just made a stupid decission and lied for months"

Sarah looked at her. "So, nothings happening to me"

"From what i can gather, Kylie was first to confess and David hasn't said a word about anything. He's kept his trap shut according to the officer" Audrey said as Sarah smiled slightly, she was in the clear.

David and Kylie stood in seperate cells. Resting there foreheads on the walls and thinking everything over.

All David could think about was Kylie and how could she be so stupid as to confess while Kylie thought of David and knew that what she was doing was to protect her children as well as her husband. She couldn't let her kids grow up without both parents. No, she did the crime, so she was going to do the time. Hopefully Alone.
