Chapter 8:

"Harry?" I screeched.

No answer.

Tears welled in my eyes. It was silent.

"Har-ry?" My voice cracked as I yelled for him again.

"Yes love? Can I come in?"

I slowly unlocked the door.

He held out his arms and I jump into them and squeezed him tight. I then walked out and right next to my door way was my dad. He was on the floor with a bloody nose.

I gasped and Harry calmed me.

"He isn't dead. I knocked him out but he will be fine. Now come on."

He said tugging at my hand.

"Where are we going?" I asked and sniffles

"Back to my house. You need sleep and it's not safe here."

"No Harry, we just met, my dad would be wondering where I was when he woke up, and, I mean, it's fine. He won't remember anything anyways." I tried to reason with him why I could just stay home.

"I'm not asking, your coming home with me where I know you will be safe. Now lets go."

"Wait I can't just leave my dad here. He will wake up with blood on him and yell for me and I won't be there."

"Okay well then we will clean him up and lay him on the couch and then we will leave." He wanted me to be happy but he knew I was miserable staying with my father.

"Fine. Help me bring him to the couch."

I picked up his arms and Harry got his legs and we lifted him up over to the couch.

I grabbed a wet wash cloth and soak it in warm water. I went over and wiped his nose, mouth and right hand that was covered in blood. That's when I saw the medication. It was in his back pocket and when he mixed the medication with alcohol he lost it. I grabbed the medication, grabbed my back pack and Harry intertwined his fingers with mine.

Before I knew it we were in his car silently driving to his house as tears formed in my eyes.

My life was so complicated, I was going over to a boys house I barley even knew right after he beat up my father. How in the hell was that even relevant?

We pulled up in front of his house and I was shaking as he opened my door for me like a gentleman. He carried my backpack for me and squeezed me hand tight. He unlocked the door and his mom was on the couch sitting there as if she was waiting for our arrival.

"Mum this is Faith, Faith this is Anne my mother. My sister Gemma is upstairs. You can borrow some of her clothes for tomorrow, if you want to go to school."

"Um thanks but I can just stay here for a few hours and then he will be for sure passed out and I can go home." I wasn't comfortable with staying at a strangers house.

"Oh sweetheart you look shaken up," Anne said pulling me into a hug. It was nice to have a motherly hug. I haven't had one since my mom. It felt nice.

"You can stay here as long as you need..... So.... What exactly happened if you don't mind me asking?"

"Mom, uh now isn't the time."

He gave her a look that said, mom she's upset and doesn't really know us, it's none of your business.

"So um, you can sleep up in my bed and I can sleep on the couch down here. C'mon ill show you my room."

He led me upstairs and to the right. We passed a bathroom, Gemma's room and a game room. Then he opened the door to his room. It was a simple room. It was painted dark blue with a black bed spread and black furniture. There were video games on his desk and he had an Xbox. It was a typical boy room except it was pretty clean.
