It was 10:30pm and Cassie and I were in a club in the city.
"H-, hey, Mabel come and dance with me!" Cassie shouted over the music. She was dancing with a group of four guys and she was very much intoxicated.
"You're drunk, Cass!" I shouted.
"I'm what? A punk? Hey, I- I am not!" She replied, her words slurred whilst she said dancing.
"Drunk, I said drunk!"
"I am not!" Cassie laughed, falling into the arms of one of the guys she was dancing with.
I ushered Cassie over.
"One sec, babe, I'll be back." She said to the guy she was dancing with, then kissing him passionately.
She came over to me, almost falling again.
"What!? What is it you want?" Cassie giggled slumping into a chair.
"You said you weren't gonna drink tonight! You said we were just gonna chill out together! You know I don't want to drink!" I frustratedly snapped.
"Ugh! Don't be such a, such a..what's it called? Oh, o- a 'killjoy'! She said, using air quotes.
"You know what? Whatever, I'm going to get some air!" I shouted, trying to over the power the loud music.
I got up, grabbed the purse Cassie lent to me and proceeded to go to the back entrance of the club.
"You're so boring Mabel! Lighten up!" I heard Cassie shout as I stormed out.
From the outside of the club I heard the music still blaring loud. I sighed and sat on the steps outside the exit. I put my head into my hands, I could feel a headache coming on.
"I take it you're not much of a club kind of girl?" I heard a deep voice say.
I took my head out of my heads and looked to my left where stood a guy, about my age. He had beautiful brown eyes, brown hair and was wearing black jeans and a, now, creased white shirt. I couldn't help myself but stare for a minute unbeknownst to me.
"Have I got something on my face?" He laughed, sipping from a beer bottle before placing it onto the ground.
"Oh, uh, no, I- I just zoned out for a second. I'm kinda tired." I replied, snapping myself out of my trance.
"Me too, my friend dragged me out here tonight but now I have no idea where he's at!" He smiled, sitting on the step below me. "Oh do you mind?" He politely asked.
"Oh yeah, of course you can sit there." I laughed. "It's funny because literally the same thing happened with me too. My friend forced me to come out and now she's drunk and she's dancing with a bunch of random guys! I just needed to come out and get some air."
"Yeah, I'm not really a party type of guy, I prefer relaxing at home, I don't know, watching a movie and having Chinese food."
"I get what you mean. I haven't been out in so long and had to get my friend to lend me a party dress and everything." I giggled.
"You look really beautiful in it, oh, um, if you don't mind me saying. I'm sorry." He awkwardly said.
I smiled. "It's fine. You look wonderful too."
"Why thank you." He blushed. "I'm Nick by the way."
"I'm May, well my name is Mabel but I prefer May."
"May. Hm, a beautiful name for a beautiful girl." He sweetly said.
I blushed. "Thank you."
Suddenly the exit door flung open and a group of eight guys came stumbling out with a girl. It was Cassie.
"Nick!" One of the guys shouted running over to him and getting him up. "Come inside, man! Let's dance!" He said pulling Nick inside.
"Bye May! Hopefully I'll catch you again!" He shouted. I laughed and waved goodbye to him.
The rest of the guys went in expect for Cassie with her guy for the night and another one who was staring at me.
"Um, Cassie?" I said. Hoping she'd come over.
"Shu- shut up May! Can't you see I, I am busy!" She yelled, her and the mysterious guy she was with were doing more than kissing now, he pinned her against her wall.
I rolled my eyes.
The other guy who was with them came over to me and uninvitedly sat next to me.
"Why hello sexy." He said as he bit his lip, looking me up and down."
"Why, buh-bye." I said, getting up to walk away.
"Hey now, no need to be rude." He said, grabbing me by the wrist.
He had dark brown hair with dark brown eyes to match. He was quite tall and muscular. But he looked like trouble.
"Look, I've been through a lot and I don't need anything like this now, so let go." I firmly said trying to lose his grasp.
"Aw, well maybe we could go back to my apartment and talk about it". He said, with his hand still around my wrist.
I began to panic as he wasn't letting go. It just reminded me of what happened with Taylor. I could see Cassie and who she was with still obsessing over each other.
"No look I'm not going to your apartment I don't know you! Just let go of me please?"
His grasp on my wrist began to tighten, I yelped out in pain. "Ouch! Get off! Who the hell do you think you are?"
"I could be your man, honey." He said moving close to be trying to kiss me.
I tried pushing him away from me but he just wouldn't let go of me.
"Cassie! Cassie tell this guy to get off me please?" I begged to her but she wasn't listening.
"Don't scream, otherwise I'll give you a reason, baby." He said, aggression in his bloodshot red eyes.
Just Get off! Get the hell off!" I screamed as I tried punching him. "Cassie!"
"Shut up Mabel and enjoy that someone actually wants you!" She yelled back.
I began to tear up. How could she said that to me. After everything I've been through.
"Hey babe come on let's get out of here." He said, harshly pulling me towards a car parked at the back of the club.
"No! Help! Get off me, get off!" I cried. "Cassie please help me! Get him off, Cassie!" I pleaded. But I looked back and saw her still kissing that guy and laughing at me.
"Oh Mabel, stop being so needy." She said, laughing hysterically with the guy who she was with.
He was pulling me closer to the car and opened the door.
"No! Cassie, someone! Help me, help!" I screamed at the top of my lungs."
"Shut up and stop screaming."
