We pulled up into Cassie's drive way, the rain now beginning to cease. She stood in the drive way as if she knew we were coming. As soon as I laid my eyes upon her anger and betrayal riddled me. In a rage I flung the car door open and ran out.
"Mabel wait!" Nick shouted.
"You bitch!" I screamed as I lunged towards Cassie.
"Please! I can explain!" She begged as I grabbed her hair in anger. What am I doing?
Nick tried to pull me off but I dug my nails into her neck, she yelped in pain.
"Mabel! Come on, get off!" Nick said as he managed to pull me off. Tears began to stream done my face, Nick pulled me into a tight hug.
"Mabel." Cassie said as she got up.
"Just don't talk to me." I retaliated.
"I'm so so-"
I cut her off again. "Ok, considering you wanna talk, too bad because I'm doing the talking now!" I shouted. "How the hell could you do that to me? I trusted you, you were the only person I could turn to for help and protection and you betray me like that!"
Cassie stood in silence, her head drooped in shame. "I'm sorry, May."
"And don't call me 'May', only people I like can call me that." I snapped.
"Please, I just need you to lis-"
"No, ok, I'm not listening to your crap." I spat. "I don't even want to look at you. I can't believe this!"
"Whenever you're ready to talk, Mabel. I'm here." Cassie replied.
"Yeah? Well don't wait around for it, it's gonna be a while." I snapped once again.
There was an awkward silence until Nick spoke.
"Um, sorry about your car, we brought it back." Nick awkwardly said as he threw the keys into Cassie's hand.
"Thanks." She bluntly replied. "So um, how are you guys getting back to, where ever you're going?" Cassie said kindly.
"Shit." Nick said. "We didn't think about that."
"We can walk." I abruptly said.
"No, you can't walk, it'll be too far, let me take you ba-"
"No." I said, cutting Cassie off.
"It's fine, we can call a cab." Nick responded.
"Oh, ok. I'm so sorry Ma-"
"Save it, Cassie."
"Ok." Cassie said as she turned to her front door and proceeded inside. "Please, call me or something, May, I feel terrible." Cassie genuinely said.
"I'll think about it." I huffed.
"That's all I wanted to hear." She smiled as she shut her front door.
I sighed deeply.
"What happened?" Nick questioned.
"I, uh, it's, it's a long story." I sighed.
"Protection and help? What's going on?" Nick asked out of curiosity. "What did she do to you to get you so pissed?"
"Can this wait till we get to your place?" I asked.
"Sure." Nick smiled.
"Thanks." I said, cracking a small smile.
"I'll call for a cab." Nick said as he whipped out his phone.
