Nick and I exchanged phone numbers incase I need anything from him and with reluctance I accepted. Nick asked me if I wanted to stay with him for a couple of days but I declined as he was literally a stranger to me.

Nick offered to walk me out of the building and I accepted.

"Are you sure you're gonna be alright, May?" Nick asked with concern as we were outside of the apartment complex.

"Uh, yeah. I'll be fine." I lied.

"And you're sure you don't wanna stay with me until you feel better?" He asked, taking my hand.

I looked down at his hand begin to intertwine with mine.

"I, oh, I'm sorry. I was being friendly." Nick said, pulling his hand away.

I laughed. "It's fine, Nick. And thanks for the offer but I'll be fine."

"Call me, May. Call me if you need anything. And I'm so sorry about what's happened. Are you sure you don't wanna call the cops on him?"

"Forget about it... Worse has happened."

Nick looked at me, concern on his face.

"Uh, anyway." I said, trying to avoid the question Nick would ask me next. "I'm gonna go now." I said, kissing his cheek lightly. "Thanks for cleaning my eye up."

"And you're positive you don't wanna go to the hospital about it?"

"No, no. It's all good Nick!" I giggled. "Bye."

"Bye, May. Hopefully I'll run into you again. But not like this." He said as he walked back into the building.

I checked my phone. I had 5 missed calls and a voicemail from Cassie and one call from an unknown caller. I didn't bother calling her back. I wanted nothing to do with her anymore. I opened my phone and checked the voicemail.

May! It's me. Why aren't you answering? Is something wrong? Call me!

"Pathetic!" I shouted to myself. She didn't even remember what happened last night. Contradicting myself I called her back with anger riddling me.

"May!-"

"How could you Cassie! How the hell could you leave me last night! Do you even remember!?"

"May, I don't remember, I was drunk! I'm so sorry..."

"Sorry means nothing to me from you. You promised you wouldn't drink. And you did. You got so drunk! Do you even know what happened to me last night Cassie!?

There was silence on the phone.

"Well!?" I shouted.

"No." Cassie responded, shame in her voice.

"I literally got kidnapped by some guy at the club and then I think he drugged me and probably had sex with me!"

"May, I-"

"Oh and that's not the last of it! He wouldn't let me go in the morning and ended up giving me a black eye!"

"Please come back home May. I'm at a guys house but I'll be-"

"No! I'm leaving."

"But where are you gonna go! Are you crazy?!"

"I'm not the crazy one here! And I'd rather sleep on the streets than in your house." I snapped.

"Mabel, ple-"

I rolled my eyes and hung up the phone.

I opened the purse Cassie lent to me and grabbed my purse to check how much I had.

"You've gotta be kidding me." I mumbled as I saw that all I had was $32.50.

I hailed a cab so I could go back to Cassie's place to collect my stuff.

"Where to?" The cab driver asked as I entered. I could see his eyes lock with my bruised eye.

"Uh, 23 Adlington street." I said looking down.

The cab drive felt like forever. I laid my head against the window staring out of it blankly. I could see the cab driver in my peripheral vision looking back at me lots.

"Ma'am." He said, clearing his throat.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"I know I should be minding my own business but I noticed that your eye is black and bruised! Is everything alright?"

Tears began to form in my eyes, replaying the memories of earlier. "I'm fine. Please don't speak of it."

The cab driver looked at me with concern and turned around and pulled up outside of the house.

"Here you go ma'am."

"Thanks. How much?" I sniffled.

"It's on me." He smiled, pitiful.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive." He smiled.

"Well thank you so much. I appreciate it more than you know." I said exiting the cab.

"Enjoy your day." he smiled.

"You too." I said as I shut the door.

I walked up to the house and opened the door with the spare key Cassie gave me. I ran upstairs and grabbed my rucksack before running back down to grab the keys to Cassie's car. I knew I shouldn't take it but I need somewhere to stay.

Night fell and I parked Cassie's car in the parking lot and a park before falling asleep.
