Matt's POV:
*the next morning*
I had a girlfriend. For the first time in my life, there was a girl in my life that wasn't abusive and drunk. That would be my mom.
I had to go tell Ed. I walked up the two flights of stairs, not even caring I wasn't wearing a shirt or anything besides underwear for that matter. It was just Ed.
I knocked on his door to warn him and opened it.
"Hey Ed, guess- oh god."
I slammed the door after I had caught a glimpse of that evil b|tch in my brother's bed.
I heard his voice yelling my name and Amanda's yelling to come back. Obviously talking to Ed and not me. We had had our issues in the past.
*Two years ago*
"Matt, this is Amanda. She's my new girlfriend." My brother smiled as he pushed forward his breast-bulging, smirking girlfriend forward.
"Bynes?"
She fake smiled. "Thats the one!"
I gave Ed the 'Really, this girl?' look, but he shook it off.
"She's amazing."
I fake-smiled at her. "Nice meeting you."
She noticed the false in my face and rolled her eyes, mouthing 'you're just a kid' so Ed couldn't see.
Ed's phone rung. "Aw, geez. I gotta take this." He ran into the other room and shut the door.
Amanda turned to me and grabbed the collar of my shirt, pulling me up to her height, as she was on heels and I still had not reached puberty.
"Listen, you child. He really values your opinion. So you like me. And if anything, ANYTHING happens that you find out about. He doesn't need to know. Do you hear me??"
I pushed her off of me.
"So you're pretty much lying to him?"
She made a face.
"I prefer to call it having a double meaning."
I shook my head and laughed.
"You may be four years older than me, but I'm definitely a year or two ahead of you in the ol' noggin." I chuckled some more and walked towards the door. I turned around and added, "By the way, I can smell the pot in your necklace."
I heard her cursing as I ran to my tiny room at the house on Kaplan.
*End of Flashback*
So long story short, Amanda and I didn't really get along.

I got dressed into some random t-shirt and a pair of basketball shorts.
I grabbed my bag and headed out the door, shouting good byes to Ed and excluding Amanda entirely.
I met up with Kaycee and Lindsay at the turn at the end of the street.
Our walk was quiet and the whole time Kaycee was looking back and forth at the two of us, expecting us to make out or something in the middle of the street. Eventually, Lindsay had had enough of the staring.
"Kaycee, we both know you've had multiple boyfriends before. Whats so exciting about watching me?"
Kaycee chuckled from behind me, as I was pretending neither of them were talking. "But you two are just too darn adorable."
Lindsay rolled her eyes and apologized to me, getting a grunt in return.
We walked in silence until we got to the school. Kaycee ran off with her boyfriend, Alex, leaving Lindsay and I alone.
"Girlfriend." I nodded my chin towards her in greeting.
"Boyfriend." She smiled and did the same.
We awkwardly hugged and then parted our ways to our lockers.

Lindsay had told me in class that she had to help guidance with Kaycee during lunch, so I would have a chance to make some guy friends. I carefully made my way and sat down next to Alex and a few of his friends.
"Mind if I join?"
I got murmurs of no's so relaxed my shoulders and took my hands off my tray. People respected me since I stood up to Patty, since even the coolest kids in school couldn't do.
The table was very quiet and I was positive it was because I was there.
So I decided to spark conversation and maybe make a few new friends.
"So what are your names? I already know Alex, thank you, Kaycee."
Alex laughed, knowing Kaycee was a big mouth, and starting introducing his friends. Pointing to a medium-sized kid with dark black hair sweeping over his entire face, he said, "This is Ray. He just kinda keeps to himself but he's cool and trustworthy."
I nodded and smiled at Ray, getting nothing more than a slight head nod in return.
Alex then pointed to a tall, husky, brown haired boy with a smile that could make a dozen girls faint.
"This is Howard. He's on the football team, but has been fooled too many times before by them to not be friends with them anymore. He knows better. He's dating a cheerleader, but she's cool too. She's the one over there with the dirty blonde hair hanging with the dance team."
Howard stuck his hand out and said hello to me. I took his hand and gave it a shake and smile.
Alex pointed to a boy with blonde hair who seemed a bit like Alex. "This is Jason. He's on the basketball team and is dating Kaylie. She's a gymnast, known for a keg stand that she regrets from a party a few months ago."
Jason smiled and said hi, then went back to his burger.
Alex turned back to me. "And thats the crew!"
I smiled at them all as the bell started ringing. "You'll have to tell me about the recent drama another day. Nice meeting you guys. Ray. Howard. Jason." I nodded to them all on their name. "Bye, Alex. Thank you."
I liked Lindsay being my friend a lot, but it was good to have some guy friends.
