Matt's POV:
I walked home with Lindsay and Kaycee, as none of the boys lived anywhere near me. It was fairly noisy, as both of them had stole Jolly Ranchers from guidance.
I was actually very tempted to film them. They were pretty much running in the middle of the street and doing crazy things. Kaycee had now run into the street three times to do the worm.
It was as if they were drunk on candy.
But it was a street that only people that lived there went down and apparently they were used to Kaycee lying in the middle of the street.
When Kaycee saw her house, she got all excited. "Land ho!!!!!" she yelled before she ran down the rest of the street and inside her house, leaving Lindsay and I laughing.
"She's a piece of work, isn't she?" Lindsay said, shaking her head.
I laughed, still regretting not filming her.
Lindsay was using her phone and I looked over and saw she was texting Helga. Helga was like a grandmother to her, although not related at all by blood.
"Did Dakota adopt you?"
Lindsay locked her phone and put it in her blue Nike sweatshirt pocket.
"Yeah."
I nodded, taking it it.
"So technically Helga is your grandmother. Dakota is your mother. James is your father. And your father owns Apple."
She nodded with a sad smile.
"Yup."
"So...where are your real parents?"
I asked her, not really expecting an answer. It seemed like a sore subject.
"Sort of in the same place as yours. My mom is drunk most of the time. My dad is a bipolar idiot. But at least he's alive," she sighed, but added with a chuckle, "AND he has a cute dog."
I smiled.
"I'm sorry that I asked you that."
She shook her head and furrowed her brow.
"No, no, it's okay. I nagged you too."
"Oh, right."
She looked down and twiddled her thumbs like she always did when she was nervous.
"So...umm...wanna come over?"
I lit up.
"Sure! I'll just go drop my stuff and tell Ed."
She smiled wide and nodded.
"Okay, see you in a few!"
I ran up my steps and into my house.
"Ed! I'm going over Lindsay's for a few hours. I probably won't be back for dinner!"
"Okay!" I heard him yell from somewhere upstairs.
"Where are you?" It didn't sound like it was coming from his room.
I heard voices saying 'ouch' and 'stop' and the like. Then Ed said, "Umm...upstairs. Have fun!"
It seemed a little strange, but I shrugged it off and headed over to Lindsay's.
I completely ignored the handleless gate and hopped the back fence effortlessly.
I let myself in the back door and saw Helga putting some old food in the trash can.
"Hey, Helga."
"AHH!" She shrieked and threw the food up and everywhere. "You dirty rotten fool! The most disrespectful young folk I've ever seen."
"I was just greeting you." I said with a chuckle.
Lindsay must have heard Helga's screams and ran downstairs, knowing exactly who caused them.
She looked over the kitchen and nodded to me.
"Good work."
I smiled. "I AM the master."
We laughed and ran upstairs.
We got up there and casual talked for a while.
After talking about tennis, dogs, capital cities, and calamari, Lindsay said, "I can't believe its already February 1st."
"Yup. I'm almost 16!"
Lindsay smirked.
"Hah. I've been sixteen for almost a month."
I stuck out my tongue at her and she made a face and we both turned the opposite way with our arms crossed.
After a few seconds of stifling laughter, we both started cracking up.
I stood up.
"I should probably be getting home."
She stood too, and smiled.
"Okay, I'll walk you home!"
I raised my eyebrow.
"Its across the street."
She shrugged and never lost her smile.
"Its dark."
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"Okay, okay, fine. Chauffeur me into my house."
We laughed and left her house and ran across the street. She came on the porch with me and I opened the door and was surprised that all the lights are off.
Lindsay looked in too.
"Is anyone home?" she asked me.
I nodded, "Yeah, Ed should be."
I grabbed her hand and walked inside.
She seemed surprised that I had taken her hand, but was more nervous to make a big deal with it.
"You don't know what you've just done."
I turned to Lindsay and she turned to me and we spoke in sync.
"Was that you?"
We both shook our heads and stepped closer.
"No. It was me."
Amanda Bynes came out of the shadows.
I'm never happy to see her, but I was even less happy when I saw the knife in her hand still dripping with fresh blood.
