Riley POV

I sat in my bed, studying my Science textbook for my upcoming test, but all my thoughts drifted to Lucas. All my tutoring sessions with him have been full of my awkwardness, but I'd like to say I was improving. Now, if we pass each other in the hallways, I can say hi to him without my face turning beet red.

As I was clouded with my thoughts, Maya climbed through my bay window. She and I have been becoming closer friends, and we talk about everything.

"Really? You're studying for a science test? Dang, I seriously thought some of my rebellious character had rub off on you by now." She approached my bed with a frown. I just chuckled and closed my textbook. Since she knew that I had a crush, I figured I'd come clean.

"Well, you'll be happy to know that I wasn't really studying. I was...thinking about dream boy." I admitted. A sly grin made its way to her face.

"Ooohh, daydreaming about Lucas, huh?" I jolted up in my bed.

"W-WHAT? How did you figure it out?"
I couldn't be that obvious with my crush on Lucas around Maya, could I?

Maya snorted. "Please, you start blushing whenever you mention your little study sessions with him. It wasn't hard to figure out." She laid next to me, leaning her head against the pillows. "Soooo...what's the 411? Have you made a move yet?"

My eyebrows shot up. "Made a move? Maya, I can barely get through the whole lesson without saying something stupid. By the time I ever ask him out, you'll be in Manhattan having your very last famous art exhibit because your so old you can't even pick up the paintbrush anymore."

Maya bit her lip to keep herself from laughing. "Okay, fine. Then show me your best flirting skills, and I'll help you practice. When I'm done with you, you'll be as big of a flirt as that Farkle."

Speaking of Farkle, him and I have grown closer too. I had introduced him to Maya, although he already knew her, claiming that she was "#3 on his interest scale" (which, I have to admit, made me a little offended). The three of us had become a trio, and we go everywhere together, and talk about everything. Usually, we hang out and my mother's lovely little bakery, Topanga's, and do our homework there. I'm happy to say that we changed each other a little, all with our friendship.

I raised an eyebrow at Maya, to which she only replied with a face meaning she was serious. Letting out a breath, I winked with an open mouth, using my hand to fluff up my hair. She looked at me with a confused yet amused face and shook her head. Sighing, I crawled over to sit beside her.

Putting an arm around my shoulder as I lay my head against her, she strokes my hair. "Alright, honey. Maybe flirting isn't for you. But, nonetheless, we still need to figure out a way to get Lucas' attention to you." We sat for a while, silently thinking, until Maya shot up, causing me to remove my head and turn my attention to her.

"I got it. Your clothes."

Looking down with a slight frown. I was wearing a muddy brown shirt with "bleh!" imprinted on it, and some loose fitting grey sweatpants. "What's wrong with my clothes?"

"Yeah, maybe your whole style too." Maya cringed, looking at my hair. I had thrown it up into a weird, half-looped ponytail, with more than a few flyaways sticking out. Okay, not the best look, but hey, it was a stay at home night; I didn't need to impress anyone.

"Hey, I like my style! All my clothes are comfortable, but cute."

"I know, and I promise you Riles, that this is only temporary. You change your style a bit, grab Lucas' attention, then maybe you can slowly transition back to all this." She motioned to my look.
