As we exited the ice - cream pallor, the strange hooded figure was leaning against the glass. But this time his icy blue eyes were staring at me expectantly. A shiver ran down my spine, I felt as if I had seen those eyes before. "Hey Zayn," I say as I nudge him with my elbow. "Do you see that guy over there?" Zayn looks to where I am pointing. "Nope, there is no one there. Maybe you're just imagining things, " he says as he wraps an arm protectively around me. Then the hooded person does something completely unexpected. "D-did he just growl at you?" I asked, this day was getting weird. Zayn growled under his breathe and snarled something I couldn't understand. "Wait , hold up. Did you just growl back," this was getting crazier by the minute. "No, and I told you there is nobody there. You're just imagining things that are not there. I should take you home," he sounds like he is trying to keep in anger. But I don't know what he is angry at. Zayn grabs my arm and roughly pulls me to his car, but as he is unlocking the car, I can't help but look back. The stranger is still there, icy blue eyes boring into my soul. I look at Zayn then look back. I gasp... the figure has gone. I searched around for him. He was there just a few moments ago. Maybe I was just imagining things. I mentally shake myself, as I get inside Zayn's car. I want to ask him a question, but his face is hostile and unfriendly. His hands were gripping the stearing wheel so tightly that his knuckles were going white. I don't know why he is like this but I have a feeling that Zayn wasn't telling the truth about not seeing the stranger. Why would he lie to me? Questions line up in my head, all asking the same thing. Who was that stranger and why does it feel like I know him from somewhere when I have only seen his eyes.
We pull up into my driveway, and on the last step there are two boxes of cakes. Funny I only bought one. On top of the first box is a note. It says:
My darling Alexandria, look how much you've grown, I can't wait to see you again on your 18th birthday. It is the day I will be taking you back home.
Love Mummy
At the bottom was a giant kiss mark and the note smelt like frost and the evergreens. Zayn stiffen beside me when he had finished reading over my shoulder. I turned and looked at him accusingly. "You something about this don't you?" My voice shaking. What does it mean, Love Mummy? My mother is dead. "I have no idea what this is about," he says levelly. Something about his tone tells me that he knows more about this then he lets on. He grabs the note out of my hand and gets a match from his pocket and sets it on fire. "Hey! Why did you do that!" I shouted at him. He was really getting on my nerves today. First lying to me, now setting my note on fire. "I'm protecting you princess," he says calmly. What! Protecting me! From what? I wanted to ask, but me eyes started to droop and sag. I couldn't keep them open. The last thing I remember is Zayn apologizing. Then the darkness swallowed me in.
