Lily

I wake up with in Frankie's bed. Since she had confessed to me that I'm her mate my heart has been going wild ever since. Every time she touches me, I'm growing hot. Every time she wraps her arms around me, I want nothing more than snuggling up to her. I know, I can see, that I'm driving her crazy, but I still don't know surely if I want to be her mate.

She's been exceptionally nice to me, and to tell the truth, I like it when she makes me feel special. But I don't want to the others to think I'm some kind of whore who sleeps her way to the top. The other servants are from different species. Some are werewolves, others are elves, half-elves, werecats, humans and there was one fairy. The fairy has tried to escape once, which was punished by death.

Frankie's bloodlust scares me shitless and I totally freeze when I see her so cruel. It's not that I haven't seen those things before, but seeing her do those things stirs something I can't put my finger on it. She kills off anyone who disobeys her, or is disrespectful to me and despite her cruelty I still think she's the sweetest person I've met. I know that sounds strange, being scared of her cruelty yet finding her the sweetest person, but I don't know how to describe it in another way. It's like I know she won't harm me, in any way.

"What are you thinking about?" Frankie asks, holding me in her arms. She has this soft look in her eyes when she looks at me, one that she only gives me. I can't help but snuggle up and sigh.

"Nothing. I was uh... wondering about the pregnant woman," I lie. I can see Frankie knows it's a lie, but she says nothing about it.

"She's fine," she grunts. "The fucking pest got stuck when you were in bed, so he almost killed his mother. And now his mother made a deal with me."

"You didn't..." I couldn't even finish the sentence.

"Don't worry," Frankie says, pressing me against her. She kisses my cheek and the tenderness in her eyes tells me how much she cares for me. "She's in the servants quarters, with the rest of them. Though her son stayed with Violet."

"What?!" I exclaim. "You did what?!"

"What?" She says.

"You separated mother and son?!"

"Yes," she says casually, as if I asked about the weather.

"That's so cruel!" I yell. The moment those words slipped over my lips I regretted them. The hurt in Frankie's eyes was evident, even though it was for a split second, they were hurt. "I'm so-"

"It's okay. Don't be. I'm not ashamed to tell you I am cruel. I know I am and I love it," she interrupts me, sounding colder than before. She unwraps her arm and stands. She walks to the door and without turning around she says, "Go change yourself, I'll be in my office."

The door closes a bit too hard to call it normal, but too soft to call it slamming. I don't know what to do. I take her teddy in my arms and drop my head on him. Did I just insult her? Is she going to change her mind about me? Will she take her anger out on someone? What if the little boy got hurt because of this?

I dress as quickly as I can and try to find my way to the newborn wolf. I run to the elven quarters where Rose, Violet and Ivy stay. Ivy's been reinstalled as a special one, but Frankie keeps her at her side at all times, except when we're in her bedroom. Ivy's been acting as humble as she can and does everything in her power to make Frankie happy, even though Frankie asks the impossible of her.

As I get to the elven quarters I hear some crying, but it doesn't sound from a baby. I slam the door open and look around. On the floor are two elves rolling around, Rose and Ivy. Rose has the upper hand has Ivy pinned to the ground. Ivy spits in Rose's face and says something in their own language. Seeing it's not a baby that got hurt I run past them to Violet's room. I knock quickly and don't wait for a reply as I just open the door.

In contrary from what I've just seen, Violet's room is like the most serene and peaceful sanctuary I just step into. It makes me relax despite my hurry and I start to feel languid. I lazily walk over to Violet, who has a little baby boy in her arms.

"He's fine," Violet says gently. Her eyes shine with delight joy as she caresses the baby. I don't want to interrupt her happy time, but I also don't want to keep the baby from his mother any longer. After contemplating for a while I decide to break Violet's happy moment.

"Violet, he needs to be returned to his mother," I whisper. Violet gives me a death glare before she sighs to hand the baby over.

"Yes, that's the best," she absentmindedly replies. I can see that I just broke another woman's heart.

With mine heavy in my chest I take the baby and walk to the servants quarters. Despite my intention to not be treated differently from the others, I've slept in Frankie's bed every night and shared my meals with her in her private dining room.

I'm not blind to see that the other servants think of me as a whore, one that sleeps her way up the top to get herself a nice position in the hierarchy. I know they despise and hate me and the only place I feel safe enough now to close my eyes, is in Frankie's bed. I know that isn't helping the problem either, but I just don't want to be murdered in my sleep.

In the servants quarters I walk up to the room I'd originally been assigned to, number nine. There are three lesser vampires playing with the half-conscience wolf woman. Frankie must've instructed those brainless vampires to listen to me because after I tell them to leave, they leave.

The woman looks up as I take another step into the room. Her eyes barely seem to register me, her attention is on the small human-like bundle curled up in my arms. She snatches her son away from me and growls loudly in my face. I just don't have the time to react for it happens so fast or else I would've just given her the baby.

Another growl, a more aggressive one, comes from behind me and I don't need to turn around to know who it is. In this week I've learned to distinct the different growls of a variety of growling and grunting females.

No surprise, it's Frankie. Starting to know her overprotectiveness I can already guess what happens next. Before I can let that happen, I turn around and put my hands on her cheeks, forcing her to look at me.

"Don't," I whisper. I can feel her relax a little and her gaze softens. The love and tenderness I've seen just an hour ago is back. She gives me a soft smile before she maneuvers around me and is standing between me and the wolf woman.

"You've just made a very grieve mistake," Frankie snickers before she pulls me out of the room. She sends Rose into the room and locks it. In the hall she asks me, "What the fucking hell?! Why the fuck did you do that?! I don't want her to have her son, that's the prices she's paying me to have her and her son saved!"

"Don't ever talk to me like that!" I can't help but say in disgust. I'm a prideful human and I don't like to be talked to like that, especially by someone that's supposed to be significant other! "Are you insane?! Do you know what happens when you take a baby cup from mama bear?! You'll get a very powerful, very angry and very fierce enemy and when the son's grown up he'll want revenge and will try as hard as his mother to kill you! If you want to spend a very long time with me, then I don't want to have to worry about our safety!"

Did I just blurt that last part out? Oops, my bad.

My cheeks burn up and I can feel all my confidence leave me. I deflate and want to disappear into the ground. I want it to swallow me.

I turn around and make a run for the hell of it, not wanting Frankie to see the expression on my face even I can't name.
