Misidentified

Chapter 7

Syed told Matt the entire story of the day after Mikey had finished his passionate discussion on hats and went to bed. 

"Syed, I think maybe you've been hit by... I think you've been struck by...a false memory charm. It causes the victim to recollect false memories, whereas memory charms wipe memories," Matt said. 

"But who would've done that, and why? Is it because I am supposedly the son of dark wizards? And if they were trying to hide me, they didn't do a very good job. McGonnagall knows about it. And who the fuck was that guy? Dude is really ruining school for me right now," Syed said. 

Syed took a sip of tea, and when he looked up, he saw a girl darting across the corner and heading in to the boy's lavatory. Her dark black hair moving from side to side, Syed quickly got up, setting his tea down quickly. 

"Yo I just saw some chick go into the guy's bathroom," Syed said. 

"Fascinating. Maybe she's waiting for you. Maybe she wants you to follow her," Matt joked. 

"If you say it like that..." Syed strides towards the bathroom and slid through the door. There was no one else in the bathroom. Syed looked underneath the stalls for any sign of feet, but nothing. He shrugged it off and walked back to Matt. 

"Pulled a quickie?" Matt joked. 

"Weird...nobody was in there. Oh well. It's Hogwarts. Was probably Moaning Myrtle," Syed said. 

"Do you mean the ghost or a girl named Myrtle that you got it on with, you sexy beast?" Matt teased. 

"Yo, stop. You're making me blush," Syed said. 

"I can make you do more than that," Matt winked at Syed and they both laughed. 

Syed then glanced at Mika, who was approaching. 

"What are you doing awake Mika?" Syed asked.

"I need to tell you something. Can you come over there for a second?" She pointed to the bathroom. She sounded nervous and Syed could see her arms trembling a little bit. 

"You can say it in front of Matt. It's all good," Syed said. 

"Alright. Well...the man... he told me something on our first day back. He told me that you're my brother."

The room fell silent except for the meows of Dorian that they could hear coming from the bathroom. 

"Wait what?" Matt turned to face Mika.

"Yep...Do you know if he was telling the truth? Because...I've never told anyone this, but when I was born, my parents left me. I still don't know where they are to this day. I've lived with these fake parents of mine for as long as I can remember. They're kind people tho," Mika said. 

"No I don't know my parents either. I wish I did. But I don't know if I'm your brother." 

Matt leaned in close to Syed and whispered to him, "Wow...so I guess you can't hit that."

Syed contained his laughter, and Mika asked, "What? Why are you whispering?"

"Nothing. So...newfound sister... -" Syed was interrupted by the echoing sound of McGonnagall announcing for the Prefects to report to the Main Hall. 

Matt stood up, "Well that's my cue. You guys have fun discovering all this mysterious shit. And Syed...remember that spell I told you about. Keep it in mind because I think that may be the key to this whole thing." He walked away and out of the Common Room. 

"Syed... I really want to know where my family is from. I've always wanted to know. Do you think there is a way to find out?" 

"Well, we could find that man and ask him."

"Oh yeah and we could have a cup of tea with him as well."

"Mika...I have no intention of being as innocent as I was with him last time. I need some answers. And he's the only person who can give them to me. So I'll do whatever it takes to squeeze those answers out of his little mouth."

"So what are you saying?"

"Well...Matt and I were talking...and he said he'd cover for me if I left to go find the dude. But I really don't know where I would start by myself."

"You know what...I'm with you on this. I'll do what it takes to find this guy too. So what's our next move do you think?" Mika asked. 

"Let's go out into the Forest to get to Hogsmeade now before he gets too far. I think he knows that we're gonna go look for him. I don't think he has left past Hogsmeade," Syed said. 

Syed and Mika left the Common Room. Syed had memorized the path out of the castle out of the way of the Prefects' way. They got to the Forest. The Forest looked the more horrifying at this hour. It was almost midnight, and the Forest was completely covered in darkness, with the exception of the lights of the owl's eyes in the trees. 

"Lumos," Syed and Mika both  whispered. They walked into the Forest and didn't take 3 steps into the actual forest before they heard footsteps in front of them. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to go through the Forest? 

Suddenly, they saw a light about a few yards in front of them. It came from a wand. As the light got closer, Syed and Mika drew their wands, ready to defend themselves. A hand came into view holding the wand. Then the light was brought a bit upward as the light became nearer to Syed and Mika. The light revealed the face of the person. "What the hell are you two doing out here," Moosa asked.
