After a long day that consisted of walking to look for a good spot for a picnic, Syed stood at a edge of a cliff at midnight, peering down to see how far down it was. He saw dark waves splashing against the side of the cliff. It was also very rocky, no way for anybody to actually go down there.
Then Syed saw what haunts him every single night he lives through now. He looked down and saw a boy about his age in black robes, standing on one of the rocks, the waves crashing at his feet. The boy looked out into the horizon of ocean water. His black hair covered his forehead and the sides of his head, so Syed could not see his face at all. Syed wondered what the boy could be doing down there, or even how he got there. He yelled down there, "HEY YOU!"
"Who are you talking to, Syed?" came a voice from a woman about 10 feet behind. She sounded occupied.
The boy turned around and looked up at Syed. The boy's robes were torn and his chest had a long cut going diagonally down his chest to his hip. Blood heavily seeped out of the wound, finding its way down into his shredded robes and bare feet. The boy's face was pale white, with his eyes tearing up, and his lip quivering. Syed was terrified by the sight, but he waited for the boy to say something.
The boy's mouth opened as wide as it could, his eyes closed, and a chilling scream was let out. "HELP ME!" A type of scream you could never forget. The scream that sends chills down spines. The scream that is engraved into your memory for life. A desperate cry of help.
Syed was horrified. He scrambled. He turned around and bumped into his older brother, Dillan. Their heads collided, and they were both sent to the ground, rubbing their heads.
"Who were you talking to, bro?" Dillan asked Syed.
"They- There was a boy..." Syed struggled to speak. Horror still occupying his emotions.
"What boy?" Dillan asked, walking over to the edge of the cliff and peering down. "I don't see anyone Syed."
"What?" Syed asked in astonishment. He walked over to the edge, peered down, and saw the boy again, peering into the horizon. "He's right there!" Syed screamed.
Walking over to the tent, Dillan called out, "Mom..Dad...I think you better come look."
A beautiful black haired woman came out, her hair reaching down to her waist. Behind her, a handsome man with green eyes came out, holding a long stick.
"What is it?" Asked the man, worried.
"Syed says he sees a boy...down there," said Dillan, gesturing to the edge of the cliff with his head.
They ran over to the cliff and peered down. Syed saw his father shoot some spell down their with his wand repeatedly. Then he heard the scream again. "HELP MEEE!" This time it was an even worse shriek that made Syed want to dive down their and go save the boy himself.
"STOP!" Yelled Syed at his father.
His parents turned around, wondering why their son was yelling. "What's the matter, Syed? I was only checking if anyone was hiding themselves down their with the Homenum Revelio charm," his father said, concerned. "There is no one there."
Syed ran into the tent, crying. The family ran back after him quickly.
"I know what a saw," Syed said, weeping into his hands, his back turned to his parents and brother.
His brother and mom sat next to him, putting their arms around him, "Syed you're mistaken. There was no one there. Now please go to sleep now," his mother said.
"Fine!" Syed replied.
His parents left the tent, heading to theirs. His brother stuck around to say one last thing. "I love you bro," and with that, Syed was left alone in the tent. He layed down and forced himself to sleep, trying to get the thought of the boy out of his head.
"HELP ME!" Syed woke up suddenly to the third time he heard the scream. He ran out of his tent and to the edge, his eyes taking a bit long to readjust to the sunlight. The boy was gone. But Syed saw his robes floating near the rocks.
He ran back to the campsite and into his parents' tent. They were gone. He checked his brother's tent. He was gone too.
Syed woke up from his recurring nightmare. Although it was technically a flashback.
That was the last time he had seen his real family. He knew for sure he had made them disappear with his anger. Something magical had happened that made them disappear. But he had always longed for them back. He had never seen the boy again. He had just been found near the camp by camp guards on duty. Then put up for adoption as an orphan.
What a great start to his return to Hogwarts...
