Chapter 5
I sensed rather than felt Gage on my left. The warehouse was just light enough to make shapes out before me. With my hand on the wall i walked slowly to what i assumed were the stairs. Vampires- despite how ornery they can be- liked there beauty sleep. Usually preferring any basement or closet over a king size bed.
The darkness called to them like a moth to the flame.
Gage jerked my arm back making me stop in my tracks. As he passed me on the on the wall he put his finger to his lips then threw his arm down- motioning for me to stay put and stay quiet.
I leaned against the wall and closed my eyes; focusing on listening to any sound that may give away that the vamps have awoken. On reflex my right arm shot out to my side- my dagger inches away from whoever was right beside me.
"Easy- it's me Nicholas"
I opened my eyes and turned my face; making his dark broad outline out.
"Why aren't you in wolf form?"
He shuffled closer to me
"I will be- why are you standing here alone?"
He leaned his back against the wall beside me. Even with the dust and rodents that infested this old place i could smell him clear as day.
"I'm not alone- Gage went ahead and told me to stay put- so i'am. Where is your pack?"
I whispered so lowly i didn't know if he heard me
"Surrounded the place, some are in here with us; others are waiting outs-"
Before he could finish the lights came on in with bang; almost blinding me. If that didn't wake them up the low humming of electricity sure would.
Gage came out of a small room on my left, i didn't even see it
"Before you ask- if you would read the friggin files Ashlynn you would know this pace still had power and know where to go to turn it on. Unlike you - i like seeing what i'm doing; how you fight so well in the dark i'll never know"
I nodded before glancing up at Nicholas
"Time for you to shift and for us to do what we do"
Without a glance back i walked towards the only other door in the warehouse. Max was standing beside it with my duffel bag; Gage threw me 3 bottles. Opening up my sac i grabbed three ripped up pieces of cloth and dipped them in my small container of gasoline. Stuffing them into the bottles I looked at Gage. His head nod was all i needed before lighting them; Max swung the door open and i tossed one after the other down into the black basement.
Max slammed the door as i backed up; high pitched wailing echoed around us. With a nod to Max i kissed my rosemary and stuffed it under my wife beater. Grabbing my other daggar i readied myself.
The door swung open as 2 vamps raced through it; before they reached me i pounced. My dagger digging into her chest piercing her heart. The man shrieked but before he could react i slammed my other knife into him doing the same. They dropped to the ground in a heap- there faces starting to go grey before combusting into ash. All that remained were 2 bloody hearts- usually I would grab them and throw them in a corner; so once the assignment was completed I could bring them back to the council to deal with.
But there were too many vampires- there wasn't supposed to be more than 20 here. It seemed that for every one i'd kill another 2 would emerge. Blood soaked me as I continued to slay- i faked a right and dove left. The blood coating the floor like a carpet made it easy for me to slide under the vampire. Shooting up i latched onto his back; i swung my right arm up and plunged it into his chest.
