I didn't quite understand the extent of what a 'mate' was, i didn't know why Nicholas's bite on my neck stopped whatever the vamp blood was doing and although i wasn't going to say anything- i didn't know why i felt fantastic. I felt strong, my reflexes were phenomenal. I knocked a bottle of conditioner in the shower with my elbow; before i even registered it was dropping i had it in my hands.

Pushing all that to the side... i may not know all of that but what i did know is if we didn't figure out this council problem- we were all dead men walkin and everything would be moot.

Sighing I slicked my hair up in a ponytail and threw on my clothes- whoever did the drycleaning i'm going to have to thank. Not only did they get all the blood out - do you even know how hard it is to get blood out of clothing?! Hard! Anyways there were no stains and they even smelled of lavender.

My wife beater was torn up the side revealing most of my stomach and part of bra- depending on how i moved. My jeans were torn everywhere but they would just have to do. I grabbed my rosemary and put it around my head so it rested were it belonged- on my neck. Leaving the bathroom I followed the noise to the kitchen; Gage, Max, Nicholas and his little beta were all seated around a huge table.

Plopping down i looked at the beta- who surprisingly was quite handsome. He was clean and actually had nice clothes on; i bent down and sure enough he even had a pair of shoes.

"What are you looking at?"

His voice made me sit up straight again before answering i put on my sweetest smile

"I was just thinking you look so nice"

He narrowed his eyes at me; doing a one over of himself

"You know... for getting clothes from the homeless shelter- i didn't realize they had nicer clothes than what you had on before"

I smirked when he growled at me.

"Enough Ash- we have a big problem. What are we going to do about the council?"

Gage was right; as always. Time to get serious

"Well what do we know for sure?" I asked looking around at everyone

Max sat up straighter before replying

"The council told us to kill Nicholas, the council told Nicholas to kill us- and the vampires had to die."

I nodded

"What was so important about that hive?"

Gage snorted

"Who knows- they are all dead"

Rubbing my head I went to grab my phone- just to find it wasn't in my pocket

"Max where's my phone?"

He dug around in his pocket before pulling mine and his out. With a sheepish smile he slid it to me on the table

"Sorry, i charged it for you but i couldn't break your password"

Smirking i unlocked it and called Eric- if anyone would hear anything it would be him. We couldn't actually discuss anything over the phone not knowing who was listening- especially if Eric was inside the compound. But i knew he would help- Thankfully he answered on the second ring. I put it on speaker and set the phone down in front me.
