It's safe to say that Gem Chara had a dark personality, but that was normal for demons like her. At first she absolutely loved tormenting humans to the point of misery! But now.. her jobs were just repetitive.
The same old chaos and suffering. No wonder Maxy left.
Yup things were easy nowadays, why should this job be any different?
Gem was over in the boss's office the other day when "big boss" Luci called me in to personally give me this job, saying it would be interesting and all. So maybe this would be a little fun? After all the girls name was Luna, just an average teenager. Not a lot of friends, loves animals, shouldn't be to hard to make her miserable.
Gem had been observing her for a few days now, keeping track of ideas on how to torment her until she gives up on life, when a small white puppy with golden patches and rings lay on the road, appearing to be hit by a car from the way it whimpered.
"A-A puppy!? Are you alright sweetie?" Asked Luna as soon as she reached the canine on the road. "There doesn't appear to be any blood.." She lifted her up. It whimpered almost too adorably for a puppy who was just smacked by a car.
"Heh, a puppy? How adorable! I bet that girl would absolutely love having it ripped away from her possession and torn into little bloody pieces infront of her very eyes! I'll let her grow an attachment for the dog first though. This job will be easier than I thought." Laughed Gem before teleporting away. Or at least she thought it'd be that easy, if only she had listened to her senses about the presence near her. It had been following her since the start of this job, but it was best not to physically acknowledge it, she had a job to do, but just throwing it off wouldn't be a good idea either.
Gem was flying, she felt she thought best when she was flying her black translucent wings, shimmering in the sun. Her long dark brown curly hair was flowing in the wind as she flew. Most people would've found this amazing, but Gem was lost in thought on how she'd approach this situation. Then it hit her, all she had to do was turn into some cute fluffy animal Luna would drool over! Then she could pretend to be injured and get close to the puppy to kill and she could do it behind closed doors so that presence couldn't get in her way. It was the perfect plan, get in, strike, get out, and on to the next job.
Later that day Gem took the form of a squirrel and used a transfiguration spell to add some bleeding bite marks and scratches before pretending to collapse on the girl "Luna's" door step. When Luna returned home she panicked, "Oh no! Are you okay little one? Come on lets get you all bandaged up." So the girl brought the disguised demon into her home.
Gem could see her going into the cabinet and pulling out what looked like a medical kit , kneeling down to dab Gems no existent wounds before wrapping her with bandages and carefully bringing her into the living room and setting her down near the puppy from before.
Gem could hear the girl say something like, "This place is turning into an animal hospital." before leaving the room. Gem glanced over to the puppy, it obviously wasn't normal. What kind of puppy is pure white with glowing golden patches? Plus it didn't look hurt at all after being smacked by a car. It clearly wasn't normal, so Gem had two options. She could either observe this strange puppy and torment the girl later, or she could destroy it now. Gem chose the latter of the two options and begun to transform into her true animal form, a wolf with a red pelt, and begun to walk towards the smaller canine.
Then something happened, the pup began to glow a golden yellow light before turning into her true form, a girl with long golden eagle-like wings, a flowing tail made of lace that connected to her white lace clothes, around her neck was a crystal choker and on her head was a glowing dog eared headband and golden high heels with a halo above her head.
Gem knew this was obviously an angel.
The demon sighed and returned to her true form, a girl with a grey hooded dress thats' black lace-trim skirt went to the right, light shorts with black webbing at the corners, dark tights, and leather combat boots.
She narrowed her brown eyes at the angel, "What are you doing here?" She snarled.
"I could ask you the same thing, demon." The angel spat these words like an angry cat.
"I'm doing my job." Replied Gem.
"Well, I'm doing mine trying to protect this lovely girl from beings like you." Said the angel.
"And what is THAT supposed to mean!?" Gem was now yelling, her voice became warped as her sclera was darkened and her pupils became red. A pair of twisted horns began to grow out of her head, though this transformation was short because she took a deep breath and returned to normal.
"Don't test me angel." She spat these words angrily as she took a step closer to the angel as she lit a dark fire in the palm of her hand.
The angel, Halo, summoned a sword with a golden handle that was made of fire from her halo.
"Bring it." Hissed Halo.
As Gem held up her hand, a window crashed apart and a scepter hit her in the back.
"Ow what the he-" She growled before going completely silent and looking at the animal who crashed through the window.
Halo's sword disappeared, her mouth agape.
The mule started yelling random things of concern to Halo, touching his muzzle against her face and whining as she pushed him away.
Gem wasn't really paying attention to it, "Is that.. Maxi?" She asked curiously.
The mule paused midsentance and turned back to his true form, a man in a black suit with a bow tie, fancy eye patch, and a black scepter with a golden horse head.
"Maxi! It IS you!" Said Gem. "Well, I guess that explains the presence following me. You know? There were rumors when you left, someone said you where 'fired' and your soul was in eternal suffering. Others said you somehow became mortal. But.." She laughed quietly, taking his scepter and leaning towards him, balancing on it, as he starred fearfully at her. "Who would of thought you turned on your own kind? Become one of them?"
"Look!" Halo Interrupted. "I don't know how you two know each other, but I'd appreciate it for you to leave."
Gem grinned. "Heh, I gotta job to do. This'll hardly be the last you'll be seeing of me." Her grin grew wider as she tossed the scepter back to Max and teleported away.
She was backing in the air now, her wings gracefully flapping. She'd be up against two angels this time, this was gonna be fun! Though she had to think, did Luci plan this? Or was even the big boss oblivious to this?
