Today is the day I permanently move out of my parents home and move across the country from California to my own place in Connecticut. I wasn't to thrilled about moving because I'd be leaving a lot behind, my parents, my friends, my...whole life.
However, I got a full scholarship to move down there at a university for film school. I had submitted some of my work that I have done on YouTube, mainly my movie/musical reviews, some vlogs, and music covers, and I guess they liked my work.
"Honey, are you ready to leave yet? Your flight leaves in just a couple of hours and you still have to get to the airport." I hear my mom yell from downstairs.
I sigh and look at my bare room that I have grown up in for eighteen years, but after today it won't be my room anymore. "Yeah mom I'm coming."
I grab my suitcase and my backpack and run downstairs where my parents and little sister are awaiting me. My mom has red eyes and I could tell she had been crying about my moving. My father stands straight emotionless, he's never been one to show emotions. Finally my sister stands there looking pissed having to wake up at 6am just to say goodbye to me, we've never been close.
My mom sniffles, "got everything dear? Your toothbrush, your phone, cash, an extra pair of underw--"
"Mom! I'm not a kid anymore. Yes, I have everything I need in my suitcase." I give her a hug where she practically squeezes me to death. "I'll call you when I land I promise."
I then move to my dad and he holds his hand out to shake, he's never been a hugger. "Goodbye son, we'll expect you for Christmas. Have a wonderful time."
I take his hand and shake it back. "Goodbye sir, see you in a few months." That's right, I call my father sir. He doesn't like to be called 'dad.' Strict, I know, but that's my life.
I then turn to my little sister and ruffle her hair. "Goodbye pest." She pushes my hand away and straightens her hair while hisses a "bye loser!" That's how my sister and I are, we annoy the heck out of eachother.
My mom gives me one last hug before I get into the uber and go to the airport.
Once at the airport I check in and sit waiting for my flight to be called. I take out my phone and scroll through my instagram feeds. I notice I have 10 new followers just today and about 25 likes. I quickly take a selfie and post it captioning it 'about to fly to my new home in Connecticut. #soexcited.' Within seconds I get a ton of likes.
I start receiving a lot of comments about how sad my followers are that I'm moving away and they'll miss me, but I did get a lot of positive comments wishing me luck in school and how they hope I enjoy my new home.
Why leave California you may ask? Well honestly, I just wasn't happy. I wanted to move and go on a grand adventure somewhere, but I also wanted to get a good education. As much as I loved the YouTube life I wanted to live somewhere smaller, more quaint. Don't get me wrong I still had great friends, but California just was never for me. I can still make videos and grow my social media accounts, but I'll get to do it in a place of my choosing.
Not just that, but I guess I felt lonely even though I was surrounded by a bunch of people in California. Crazy right? Well if all your friends had girlfriends and you didn't you'd feel the same way. I bet you're saying, Riz a handsome guy like yourself can't get a girl? Well I can, but all the girls that want to date me for my looks, to become famous, or wait for it...to see if they could hook up with my best friend Kendall. I just want a girl to like me for me. Is that too much to ask?
I got so worked up in my thoughts that I almost didn't hear them call out my flight.
"Flight 226 to Connecticut, final call for flight 226 to Connecticut."
I get up and quickly board the plane right before they close the doors, once on board I find my seat and put my luggage away. The flight attendant starts talking about safety stuff, but I don't really listen. I buckle up and pull out my ipod and click on one of my friend Kendall's song. Out all my friends I'd probably miss him the most. Last time I heard he was doing quiet well in his band with his roomate Dustin. I close my eyes and zone out listening to "Happy Mistakes" by Heffron Drive. The next five hours I'll just be sitting here listening to music and relaxing.
Goodbye California, hello Connecticut.

What do you guys think? I know it's a pretty boring and short chapter, but I promise it'll get better and you'll get to meet Kristen soon once Riz has been a bit more settled in Connecticut.
