My Day out with a Fox

I'm in my house reading when I hear a knock on the front door. I knew exactly who it was. I open the door to see Kristen. Wow! She looked drastically different than from this morning. She was wearing a black and white poca dot top with a cute grey sweater and black skirt combo. However, I must say her cutest feature was her hair. A pixie cut that was yellow-brown with a hint of white in it. It was only then that I realized how beautiful she looked.

"Um so are we going to go shopping or stand here all day?"

It was then I realized that I had been staring at her for awhile.

"Y-yeah, let me just grab my keys and wallet." I shake out of stupor and grab my stuff. I lock the front door and we walk to my car. I open the door for so she can get in.

She giggles at me, "wow! You're such a gentleman."

I smile at that remark, "so where should we go first?"

She returns the smile, "well I don't know about you, but I'm hungry. With all the filming I do and working on my cosplays I sometimes forget to eat. Perhaps we could have breakfast first and then go shopping?"

There is that strange word again--cosplay? I really need to look that up when I get home.

"Sounds good because I'm starving."

She giggles again, "okay take a right and there is a Denny's
Right there."

I do as she says and we pull up to Denny's. I get out and run around the car to open her door for her so she can step out.

"Thank you kind sir,"

I do a really cheesy bow, "you're welcome M'Lady."

Kris laughs a little, "and people think I'm weird...I can already tell we'll be good friends."

I smile at her compliment and we go inside to have breakfast. We get seated in a booth. I'm looking at the menu to see what I want to order when Kristen interjects my thoughts.

"So Riz, tell me more about yourself."

I look up from the menu, "well what would you like to know?"

"Everything."

I chuckle, "that might take awhile."

"Well, I remember you said you moved down here for college. Why don't we start with that? What's your major? I'm sure there is a story behind why a cool California kid would want to move to a small town like this in Connecticut."

I smile, "Naw not really. I moved down here strictly for college because they offered me a scholarship."

I didn't want to tell her that the school offered me a full scholarship because of my Internet fame. I've had a lot of girls go crazy once they find out who I am and who my friends are. Honestly, I moved down here for a fresh start where no one knows who I am.

"My major is music with a minor in the arts. I've always loved music of any kind and I want to do something more than just a few covers on my Youtube channel every now and then. I'd love to be a singer or perhaps an actor on Broadway."

"Oh so your into the arts. I love the arts! Movies and media are a huge inspiration for all my costumes that I make. You have a YouTube channel as well? Anything I might have seen?"

I stiffen at the mention of Youtube. How could I have let that slip? "Uh probably not. I'm not that widely popular."

Compared to my big shot friends it was true. They had millions of subscribers and followers all over their social media accounts, but I had a few thousand which could still be considered a lot to some people.

"What's your channels name?"

"Um..." before I could say anymore the waitress comes to take our order. After she leaves I push the conversation more on Kris so I wouldn't have to talk about my Youtube fame. It turned out to be okay though because Kristen didn't mind talking about herself. I actually learned a few things that we have in common today. We both like Attack on Titan, Harry Potter, Naruto, and much more.

After breakfast we go to a small thrift store to look at some furniture.

"So what do you exactly need for your home?"

"Well I pretty much have everything covered for my bedroom and the mini studio I'm going to build in my second bedroom, but what I really need is stuff for the living room, bathroom, and kitchen. I'm trying to find stuff that's the cheapest as possible, but is still in okay condition."

"Okay, why don't we start with the living room first. You'll need a couch and probably a couple chairs, maybe a coffe table. Yeah?"

"Yeah. Maybe some side tables and a lamp. Let's look out the couches first because I'd like to get one for tonight as I'm currently sleeping on the floor waiting for my things to arrive."

We eventually narrow it down to two couches. The first was a cool black fo leather couch, but the other was an older champagne recliner with matching footstool. I didn't really care for the champagne color one, but it was comfortable and it was a recliner and came with a footstool.

"I think I'll go with the recliner. I'm more of a comfort person and I'll only be sitting on it so...what do you think Kris?"

"I agree. They are both the same price, but you're getting more bang for your buck. You can always add some color with a lamp or rug."

With Kristen's help I also get a nice coffee table, a side table, two lamps, some utensils for the kitchen, a couple of bar chairs for my island, and a shower curtain. Everything cost me around $1,500 but it was still cheaper than if I bought everything new. I'd have everything delivered to me by tomorrow afternoon, so I'd have to put up with one more night of sleeping on the floor.

"Hey Riz, it's getting pretty late and I still have to get home and finish recording and editing a video, so I can post it up before Friday. I promised my subscribers I would have it up by Friday afternoon."

Today was already Thursday and Kris had spent the whole day helping me, and being a YouTuber I knew how long it sometimes took to shoot and edit a vid, especially doing it on your own. I almost felt a little bad.

"Hey perhaps I could help you with your video. I could shoot it for you or set up some lighting. I'm also a wicked fast editor! It's only fair. You helped me so let me help you."

"A-are you sure? It might be a little bit strange because I'll be in character, and to some people who aren't used to what I do it can be odd."

I smile, "naw no trouble at all. Plus it would be awesome to see you in action. Just try to not chop off my head this time. Deal?"

Kris lets out an awkward giggle, "sorry about that. You probably thought I was some crazy person."

I shake my head, "no not at all." I internally smile because I actually did think that when I first met her.

"Ok deal. Let's drop off some of the stuff you bought today and then we can go back to my place."

Thoughts? I promise the next chapter will be quite interesting because Riz will get to see Kris in action as Jack Frost, so you'll get to hear all his thoughts as they're filming. ♡ zero
