Interviewing a Fox

Today is the day that I'm interviewing Kris. Sadly my house is still a mess from moving. I mean I have all my boxes unpacked, including the stuff that was sent from my parent's home, but it's all scattered in their designated rooms.

You'd think the first thing I'd do is set up my bedroom so I have a place to sleep, but unfortunately you would be wrong. As I'm a YouTuber I depend on my videos to help fund my life which means the first room that I needed to set up ASAP is my studio.

My backdrop is some autograph pictures of my friends that are in the music, broadway, and movie business. I have a picture of my friend Kendall and the rest of his group when he was still BTR with all their autographs. It was a gift for my 16th birthday. Next to it hangs a picture of the original cast of newsies that is signed by Andy saying "seize the day and always follow your dreams." Below it is a picture of my family for sentimental purposes, and next to that is my newest edition which is a framed Hamilton Record. It might not be signed, but it sure looks amazing.

In addition to my framed pictures I have a few movie posters like Harry Potter, How To Train Your Dragon, and UP. Around those I've hung my playbills to all the shows I've seen on Broadway over the years, Newsies, Bonnie and Clyde, and The Lion King just to name a few.

As we look away from the wall I have a cozy couch that I bought at a yard sale the other day. I also have a small coffee table for me to place water in case my throat gets dry all of a sudden. In front of everything my camera is set up on its stand and I look into it to see if everything looks picture perfect.

I smile at how beautiful everything looks now all I need is--I hear the doorbell ring and I run downstairs to answer it.

"Riz! It's so good to see you again." Kris gives me a hug and I take in her glorious sent.

"Wow you look amazing," I comment on her outfit which is simply a Green V-neck shirt and jeans.

She laughs, "I wasn't sure what to wear. Am I too casual? I have some more dressier outfits if you prefer."

I smile, "no it's perfect. I keep it very casual on my show, I mean look at me." I was wearing black jeans and blue shirt with a black pocket.

Kris smiled, "I'm glad. Now let's get started," she said excitedly.

I lead her upstairs to my studio and go over how I'll interview her and what questions I'll be asking, but I left out the part about my weekly game. I press record and start the interview.

"Hey my Riz's peace-is this is Riz! And welcome to another episode of Riz's interviews. This week we have a special guest who is a fellow YouTuber and a dear friend of mine. I met her when I first moved to Connecticut and she has been a huge help in making me feel at home here. Most of you probably don't know her channel as her content is a bit different from mine, but please give a warm welcome to Kris, thealchemicfox! Hey Kris, thanks for being on the show."

Kris smiles, "glad to be here today."

"So Kris, please tell us a little about yourself and what it is you do on YouTube."

"Well I'm a cosplayer and if you all don't know what that it is it's someone who dresses up as a character from a movie, book, or game. A few years ago I made a vlog dressed as Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians pretending to be him. You know like talking to his followers about his adventures what has been happening lately as a new Guardian. It was a joke, but I got a lot of positive responses, so I rolled with it making weekly videos called 'Friday's with Frost.' Because of this and my other work it has helped me get jobs and speak on a few cosplay convention panels in my hometown."

I smiled at how natural Kris was doing speaking to the camera. "Yes, I've even helped her on one of her latest videos if you haven't seen it already. I'll leave the link in the description if you want to check it out later. Now Kris, on Riz's Reviews  we like to play games with our guests. This week's game is called the Whisper Challenge, if you all don't know these headphones will be blaring heavy rock music while one of us is whispering a phrase to another and then that person has to guess what the other one has just said. Are you ready to play?"

I look at Kris and she's covering her face with her hands blushing madly. "Oh gosh I've heard of this challenge and watched a ton of Youtube videos with people doing this. It doesn't look fun for the person, but I'll give it a try."

I have Kris put on the headphones with the music playing and I know she can hardly hear me. I draw a phrase from a large bowl and start to whisper it to her. Don't worry I had my sister come up with the phrases and email them to me, so this is the first time I'm looking at them.

"Dogs are beautiful creatures and I just want to hug them to death." Yeah my sister is weird.

Kris bites her lip nervously and I can tell she has no clue what I just said. "Donuts, bunnies, and crabs...I want to have them for my army?"

This game goes on for a few more minutes where we are both guessing and making fools out of ourselves.

"Well Kris looks like you beat me on my own show. I totally hate you, jk I totally love you. Well guys that's all for tonight's show--" I started to do my regular outro when Kris stopped me.

"Now now Riz I kept my end of the bargain, but aren't you going to tell your viewers about the little deal we made?" She smiled evilly.

"Well I hoped you'd forget about that, but I'll tell them anyways. So guys, I made a deal with Kris that if she came onto the show I'd go to a cosplay convention with her later on."

She giggled, "yep and I'm going to teach him how to make a costume and everything! Of course I'll help him, but he'll be doing all the sowing and making the props himself. It'll be fun!"

"Yeah for you maybe. Oh gosh just kill me now, I knew I should of listened to my mother when she offered to teach me how to soe all those years ago."

Kris slaps my arm playfully, "hey you make me sound terrible. Be greatful I'm letting you choose the character that's outfit you're making. Do you have any ideas of who you want to cosplay as?"

I had been thinking about it for awhile and I finally made a decision, but I had no clue if I could pull it off.

"Yes, I'd love to be Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III from How to Train your Dragon. Do you approve?"

"Yes I approve! That is a perfect first time cosplay and I cannot wait for you to make the costume. Just imagine, the green shirt, the big brown boots, and you can't forget the wig!"

"Wig? Do I have to wear a wig?"

"Of course you do it completes the look! Besides you have black hair and Hiccup has brown, so wig!"

"Well you heard it here guys, cosplaying is no joke and all the tiniest details matter. Stay tuned because a month or so I'll be transformed into the viking himself. Till next time."

I say farewell to the camera and shut it off.

"I already feel like I'm regretting agreeing to cosplay and go to a convention with you. I know you're going to put me to work and make sure I do this thing properly."

"Oh you know I am, but it'll be perfect. Don't worry to much because I'm taking you to a local convention that way you won't be too overwhelmed. It'll be the perfect way to end the summer before you start your classes in August. I should get going though because I promised my friend Cadenza that I'd meet up with her later."

"I'll walk you to the door."

Kris starts to exit my house when she abruptly spun around, "oh I almost forgot! I'm having a pool party with a couple of friends this Friday want to come? I don't if it'll be your scene though because we're all cosplayers and we're sort of cosplaying in beach wear. I know it's completely last minute, but--"

I give her a big smile, "I'd love to Kris, I'll totally be there."

She mirrors my smile, "awesome I'll see you there and you don't have to wear a costume since you're still new to the whole cosplay thing."

"I'll manage," I chuckle.

Once she leaves I take a deep breath. Great, now I have till Friday to figure out a pool type cosplay. Google here I come.

Hey guys, sorry it's been forever since I've updated. School has completely kept me busy being a college student and all. If you didn't know Riz is inspired by some of my favorite YouTubers, mainly Matthias, TheSuperCarlinBrothers, and Tyler Mount. I tried making Riz's Reviews to a similar format to what you see in the Tyler Mount Vlog, watch the episode above. I had planned on updating this on Saturday, but happy early Thanksgiving!
