I sit outside the guild doors, waiting. And waiting, like I have for weeks. My mom won't stop worrying, and sometimes she cries for dad. She wants him to return, I do too. Happy sits next to me watching the horizon for dad's recklessness.
"How long do you think it'll take for him to return?" I ask.
"If I know Natsu, he will be back sooner than later," Happy replies.
"Aqua, you should come inside. You'll get a cold," Mirajane says sweatily.
"I'll be alright," I sigh pulling dad's white scarf closer. He gave it to mom, but due to the sentimental value she gave it to me. As the sky starts to darken I walk home with mom. She walks faster than usual, her keys hit her hip with each movement.
"What do you want for dinner?" She asks once we're inside. She unwraps her plain pink scarf from around her neck, then she takes her coat off.
"Can we have breakfast for dinner tonight?" I ask. Mom smiles before she replies with,
"Of course." She makes us both pancakes and gives Happy some salmon.
"Aqua, why haven't you gone on a quest yet? You're perfectly capable of doing it," mom asks as she chews.
"I've been waiting for dad. It has been too long since he left," I move the last bite of pancake around on my plate.
"Well, why don't me, you, Happy, Gray, and Erza go on a quest together. I'm sure it'll keep our minds off of dad for a while," she takes both of our plates. Mom refers to dad as I do when she's talking to me about him, never as Natsu. I've noticed that I get most of my looks from him, I have pink hair and it goes to my upper thighs, and I have eyes that always change colors depending on my mood. I don't look at lot like mom though.
"I guess I could try it," I say.
