Chapter 10 – Grace’s POV

I bounced my foot up and down repeatedly, waiting for the boys to get here. I didn’t actually have a real reason for them to come here, I just…wanted there to be a happy vibe throughout the house. For the past two days, it’d been dreary and lifeless, and maybe inviting them would change that.

But something inside of me, an aggressive force was telling me that I wanted the boys, especially Calum her because of one thing; love. My whole speech to Kelsea when I realized that she was probably in love with Michael made me think about my situation with Calum. You should love the person who makes you glad you’re alive. Maybe these boys were the reason to why both Kelsea and I are still here, to why we want to keep pushing forward; our sunshine. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

“Who’s at the door? Do you want me to get it?” I heard Kelsea call from my bedroom where she was watching 17 Again.

“No thanks! I got it!” I yelled back, before opening up my front door. “Hey! We need to talk…” I began, before stopping myself, realizing that it wasn’t just Michael and Calum at the door.

“Sorry that it wasn’t just me and Michael coming,” Calum explained, pointing his thumb back at Michael, Luke and Ashton that stood behind him. “Uhm…we were supposed to have a band practice today and we thought you’d be cool with us having it here…?”

I looked at all four of the boys pleading faces, guitar cases and drum box thing in hand. “Yeah it’s cool,” I said, my eyes trained to the ground. I stepped away from the door, waving my hand for them to come in.

Once they all stepped inside, I led them downstairs to my den and stopped when I stood in the middle of room. “You can uh practice in here I guess,” I started, watching all the boys place down all their stuff. They all stood their silently, checking out how technically advanced my den was with an Apple computer, Xbox 360, all the playstations, the lot. My brother was a bit of a gamer.

When I felt the attention of all the boys switch to me, I freaked under the pressure internally; it was really awkward.

“You alright?” Calum asked, watching me as he unclipped his guitar case. “You seem a little…”

“I’m fine, don’t worry,” I said quickly, cutting him off.

“I’m surprised you’re not yelling at any of us,” Michael added.

“Ah well, uhm guess I’ve had a bit a change of heart,” I responded quietly, turning away from all of them before they could say anything and jogged up the steps and scurried all the way back up to my room to find Kelsea eating skittles.

“Who was at the door?” She slurred, putting a handful of purple skittles into her mouth. I sat down next to her and she handed me the bag of skittles.

“Oh just yaknow some boys,” I mumbled, picking the green skittles out of the bag.

“What boys?” She asked slowly, turning the volume down on the TV and pausing the movie.

“Well I was making a milkshake and these four boys just showed up in my yard and…”

“Grace, what boys?” She laughed, cutting me off.

“Oh yaknow, Ashton…Luke…Calum…Michael…” I rambled, shoving my fistful of green skittles into my mouth.

“Why’d they come to your house?” I continued searching through the bag of skittles for more green ones before Kelsea jerked the bag out of my hands and threw them to the foot of my bed. “Ok that’s enough skittles for you ok so now tell me why are they at your house.”
