"Leave me the hell alone!" The girl yells, her blue skin and hair the least odd thing about her.
"Um..." Not only did this girl just fly up with wings made of water out of the ocean, but she also has a rock in her back and just ran shouting into the changing tent where you sit.
"Oh great, a human." She sighs. You put your book down. You had luckily only been in here to skip out on beach day. It might've been mean to leave your little brother with your new friend you made at the beginning of the summer, but Lars said he could handle it.
"Hi." You say, at a complete loss for words.
"Well, since humans seem to do this, Hello. My name is Lapis Lazuli."
"Lapis..." You repeat quietly. She looks at you, confused.
"And you are?"
"Oh, right!" You stand up and dust yourself off. "Hi, I'm _____!" You hold out your hand, which she stares at. "Okay then." You bring it back.
"What are you doing in here?" Lapis asks. "Wouldn't it be much more soothing to do whatever you're doing in the water?"
"Oh." A bit embarrassed, you pick up the romance novel you had been reading. "I can't exactly read this in the water." You explain. Lapis looks at the book, glancing at the description on the back. Silently, you beg she doesn't judge you for the subject.
"Well, why do you like to 'read' if you can't do it in the water?" She asks.
"Well, I like the story." You admit.
"What's it about?" She asks, making your face go red.
"Um... it's a romance novel?" You say sheepishly.
"What's romance?" You look at Lapis for a moment.
"Can I show you?" You ask, embarrassed. Lapis nods, and you inhale deeply and kiss her.
