Yes I know it's a song title what did you  think

"You have a crush on her, don't you?" I snapped out of it, straightening out my binders.

"I do not." Garnet leaned back in her chair.

"Seems convenient that you'd want to study in public, especially  somewhere where you know she gets her coffee." She lowered her sunglasses and smirked at me.

"Studies show that studying in a new environment increases memory and comprehension." I stared at my study sheet, determined not to make eye contact with Garnet.

"Pearl." I remained silent. "I just thought you should know that I invited her to have coffee with us."

"What?" I had found it strange when she waved at us upon entry of the coffee shop.

"I thought you needed a push."

"Why on Earth would you invite her to have coffee with us, you know what kind of reputations we have!" Before I could scold Garnet any more, I noticed them seat across from me had been pulled out.

"Hey Garnet. Pearl." Amethyst nodded curtly.

"Hello Amethyst..." I said quietly.

"Hey Amethyst! You're just in time. Pearl, let's put away the binders." Garnet took the binders and I was left with only my coffee and Amethyst to stare at. I chose the coffee.

"Forgive me if I seem rude... Garnet had only alerted me that she had invited Peridot." Garnet's phone vibrated.

"Peridot can't come. Lapis has the flu." Damn. Peridot's talking was supposed to be my escape.

"That sucks." Amethyst said, sipping her coffee. "Pearl, I know we don't talk much because we're... Different. So I wanna get to know you." I was shocked. Amethyst had never stricken me as an intellectual. Mostly because of the time she spilled her drink all over me on the first day of classes.

"Yes, I'd also like to get to know you."

"What's your major? Mine's art."

"Psychology." I answered timidly.
"That's stuff with the brain, right? I know it's a course that only smart people take." I blushed.

"Yes. I'd like to be a therapist." Amethyst sighed.

"I wish I was smart like you." I blushed even harder.

"You're smart too." Amethyst blushed.

"Thanks."

We talked for awhile, hardly even noticing Garnet. Eventually, it started to get dark, and the snow started falling harder.

"Amethyst, do you want a ride?" Garnet asked.

"Yeah, thanks."

"Here. You guys take my keys and warm the car up. I'll get our bags. I put the keys in my purse.

"Okay." We put our coats on, leaving the coffee shop.

"Where's Garnet's car?"

"Across the street." We took our time crossing, laughing and talking, when suddenly, Amethyst's eyes became fixated on something behind me. It was only when I saw the reflection of the light in her eyes that she screamed.

"Pearl!" Amethyst shoved me over to the side of the road just in time, as a tractor trailer truck sped between us.

Terrified, my eyes scanned for Amethyst. When I couldn't see her, I feared the worst. Suddenly, however, she emerged from the shadows.

"Pearl!" She wrapped her arms around me tight. "Are you okay? I was so worried! You need to be more careful!" Tears were streaming down her face. "Pearl, promise me you won't let anything bad happen to you again! Pearl- I love you!" I kissed Amethyst. I, Pearl Jones, at the age of Twenty two, had finally experienced my first kiss. And it was magical.
