-- Liam POV --
It was exactly five thirty in the morning, and everybody was in a mad frenzy to get ready by six. We had ten hours of a drive ahead of us, and we wanted an early start. So early, though, that we drank about three cups of coffee just to get going.
Now it was six, and we began to hit the road. Usually I spend my time on my bunk, on my laptop. But today, on my way back from the kitchen-I was getting more coffee-, I heard giggling. Very apparent giggling. So I entered the living room, where it was coming from. And what I saw was strange.
Jessica was holding Violet, who was sleeping, like a baby. It was odd and awkward, like how out of place their giggling was. "I wanna hold her!" Asked Rayna, outstretching her arms. "No. My turn." Jessica said, not eager to share. "Why the heck do you do this?" Asked Louis, who was sitting on the couch next to Brooklyn. Brooklyn turned to him with a no-nonsense face. "Because it's more comfortable for her to sleep like this. Her neck doesn't hurt." "And also it somehow stops some of her migraines!" Blurted out Abi, looking up from her book.
"What the heck!?" I yelled. All eyes were on me. "Liam, what a wonderful surprise! Why don't you sit down?" Offered Rayna, as if I were a guest in her house. Awkwardly, I took a seat on the couch. "Would you like to hold her?" Jessica asked, tilting forward. "First, explain what in the hell you are doing."
"Violet is very tired in the day. So much, that we don't want to accidentally make her mad. So we make her sleep." Rayna began. "She's the youngest out of the group, so we always baby her to tease her, you know? Also, we're kinda like a family of sorts." Brooklyn continued. "But as she got older, she didn't want that as much. It embarrasses her. So we have our fun while she's asleep." Jessica finished. "Understand now?" Asked Abi, finishing the three-part conversation we just had. "Um.. I guess?"
"Great! Your turn!" Brooklyn clapped her hands. "Um, heck no!" Rayna interrupted. "It's my turn, ya dingus." "Fine." Jessica sighed. She passed the sleeping figure of Violet over to Rayna. "You see," She began. "It's kind of a skill. You don't want her to roll off, but you don't want her to know you're holding her." Rayna said while demonstrating. "You are a strange bunch." I remarked. "We know!" The girls chorused in unison.
