I woke up as the smell of pancakes filled my nostrils, slowly opening my eyes, I saw the sun streaming in. I felt like I had a nightmare last night, but I just couldn't remember what it was about. Oh well, it's not like it's important anyways.
Rolling over, I tried to fall asleep but to no avail. Groaning, I pulled myself up and proceeded to take a shower to freshen up. I turned on the hot water, and the bathroom was soon filled with steam. I almost fell asleep in the shower 'cause it's so relaxing, but unfortunately I bumped my head on the glass while dozing off. Stupid glass panel!
Drying myself with a fluffy towel, I went back to my room to pick an outfit for the day. Choosing my colorful tree hoodie and a random pair of jeans to match, I put my phone in my Cheshire Cat drawstring bag.
Suddenly, my phone rang. Mentally groaning, I took it out of the bag and slid my finger across the screen. "Hello, Katelyn speaking."
"It's me, Evie. What are you doing today? Are you busy?" I could hear the excitement in her voice.
"I'm going to explore the forest and go picnicking with my grandma, so I consider myself busy." I yawned unintentionally while setting my foot on the stairs.
"Oh! Sounds like fun! Can I join?" Evie asked excitedly.
"Yeah, sure. I'm pretty sure Grandma wouldn't mind." I was feeling pretty hungry, so I said a quick goodbye and hung up. "I'm gonna eat breakfast, so come within thirty minutes, okay?"
"Hey, Grandma. Evie wanted to join us, is that okay?" I asked as I dug into the delicious pancakes that Grandma made. It was so soft and fluffy, plus the smell was heavenly. Just add a bit of maple syrup, and the meal from paradise was complete.
I put my phone back in the drawstring bag, and headed out with Grandma as soon as I finished my pancakes.
"Katiiiieeee!" Evie shouted from down the path, "Let's gooooo!"
"Yes Evangeline, we're coming, we're coming." Grandma said as we made our way down the path. "Let's go fetch Katelyn's bracelet first."
We went back the way where Evie came from, and searched the bushes for my bracelet. To our disappointment, it was nowhere to be found.
Sighing, I told them, "Let's just search later, or maybe tomorrow."
They exchanged a look, knowing how much that bracelet meant to me, but got up from the ground and got started on our trip. Grandma took the lead, and followed an unseen path into the deeper parts of forest. As we came across a clearing, she put her finger on her lips telling us to be quiet.
I took a closer look at our surroundings, and saw what looked like claw marks on several tree trunks. There was a wolf, or a pack of wolves, in this forest! Grandma seemed unfazed, and walked back into the dense trees.
"Let's go back," Evie whispered, "I'm scared."
"Just a bit more, girls. There's a small hill up ahead, and a beautiful field on the other side." Even though I want to go to the field, I still felt nervous with every step. The light seemed to grow darker the more we headed in that direction.
Suddenly, a memory came back to me. "You mean the field with lots of flowers where we watched the sunset when I was younger?"
"Yes dear. We haven't been there in ages, and I think Evangeline would want to see it too." Grandma followed a path only she could see, and commented, "My, it's getting quite dark here, isn't it?"
Evie and I said our agreements, and I just couldn't handle almost tripping over unseen things in the low lighting. I stopped for a moment and took out my phone, but when I looked up again they were nowhere in sight.
"Grandma? Evie? This is not funny." I asked while turning on the flashlight function. They were nowhere to be seen.
I didn't get any reply, so I asked again in a louder voice. "Grandma? Evie?" Still no answer.
Sighing, I tried to go back the way we came from, but I only seemed to get myself deeper into the forest instead.
I thought I heard the crackling of leaves and twigs being stepped on, by someone other than me. Suddenly stopping, I confirmed my suspicions when I heard another dry crackle of twigs and leaves.
"Who's there?" I asked like the idiot I was. "Please don't kill me..."
I shone my phone's flashlight around, and saw a glimmer a few yards to my right. Stepping closer to it, I saw the bracelet I thought I lost last night. What's it doing here? I thought it was caught a bush by the path?
I went even closer to pick it up, but a paw placed itself on it, preventing me from retrieving my bracelet. I looked up, and came face to face with a wolf with blue-green eyes.
My eyes widened as the realization hit me. It's not just any wolf, but a werewolf. "No, no, no! Get away from me!"
My sight went black, and I fell down to the forest ground. Just great, I fainted.

"Mommy, come on, come on!" I said as I pulled her along with my small hands. "You promised we'd go mushroom picking today!"
"Yeah! Let's go, let's go!" My little sister said.
Daddy was back at the camp, preparing for our barbecue dinner. It was still summertime, so the sun was still shining brightly in the afternoon.
"Okay, here we are. Will you girls be alright if I go help Daddy?" Mommy asked. Being the good girls we were, my sister and I nodded. "Go back to the camp as soon as you have finished picking enough mushrooms for all of us, okay?"
My sister and I nodded, and held each other's hand as we looked around for edible mushrooms. It wasn't far from the campsite, so we weren't scared.
We were still picking mushrooms by ourselves when an ear-piercing scream rang through the forest. It was high-pitched, like a woman's. There were also sounds of fighting coming from the direction of our camp.
"We're going to see what's going on, but I want you to promise me. Whatever happens, no matter what you see, if there's any sign of trouble you'll run. Okay?" My sister nodded, and we crept back to the camp, trying to be silent.
She almost screamed when we reached the edge of the clearing. A large wolf with blazing red eyes was cornering our Dad, and Mom was lying on the grass. Lifeless.
"Run." I whispered to her. Not a moment was wasted, for she was soon weaving through the trees and out of my sight. Making up my mind, I did the same.

"You're not supposed to kidnap her!" I heard someone exclaim.
"But she's my mate!" Another person growled. Growled? "What was I supposed to do?"
"What is she?" The first person asked impatiently. I bet that person had his arms crossed and was tapping his foot on the floor repeatedly.
"A human..." The second guy mumbled.
"Exactly. So how do you expect her to understand? You're an Alpha for goodness sake! I thought you had better judgment." Alpha? Oh ship, oh ship, oh ship! "Well, I've gotta go. Good luck with her."
I slowly opened my eyes and found myself to be in an unfamiliar room. And a guy with the same blue-green eyes as the wolf was staring right at me.
Lol I haven't updated in such a long time. But yeah, here's chapter two 😂
