"Thank you for your time." The Princess curtsied, and then walked into a different room.I got handed a card that had my name on it. I started to unfold it, but everyone else was getting a seat, so I quickly got one across from Noelani. I continued to unfold the card, and on the inside it said, 'Nature.'
I looked at the bottom of the card, and it said the categories of Nature that I could be sorted into.
"Definitely Water," I told Lani. "Either Water or Hunting. I think I would want to do Hunting but I would suck at it."
She didn't answer. I looked up at her, and she didn't seem to hear me, she must be in serious thought. She put in an earpiece, and then disappeared. "Noelani!" I yelled. "Where-"
The girl to my right said, "Put in your earpiece and you'll see."
I noticed a blue thing on the table in front of me, which was definitely not there before. I fit it comfortably into my ear, and suddenly, it went dark. "Hello?" I yelled into the dark.
Look, there's a light behind you! Damien informed me. For goodness sake, turn around.
I rolled my eyes. He's a bit annoying sometimes, to be honest.
I heard that.
Well now you know. Deal with it.
A voice interrupted my thoughts. Where it came from, I could not tell. The light behind me glowed, and it seemed to be coming from the ceiling.
"You have begun your test." A female voice broke through the surface of silence, and I jumped, not expecting someone to speak. "Let us start with the resources you would prefer. Air, or Fire?"
I thought for a moment. I really want to be honest here. I wanted to answer air, but, I really felt like fire was amazing, and cool, and actually inspiring. I didn't know what it was about it.
But air, air made me feel so carefree, so relaxed, while fire made me feel adventurous. Which one would I rather feel?
On one side of me, I wanted to daring, I wanted to be the girl the bad guys want. Leather jackets, tattoos, and the such.
But at the same time, I wanted to be relaxed, sitting in my rocking chair, reading a book in a cabin in the mountains.
Are you kidding me? The first question, and you're already stuck.
Oh shut up Damien. It's not my fault. Which one would YOU prefer?
Isn't that obvious? Fire. I love Water and Fire. I love contrast. It evens it out, gives balance.
Hm. Never thought about it like that.
I answered her, finally. "Fire, I suppose."
"Fire or Earth?"
We continued like this for about an hour, listing all of the elements that were on my little card.
"Water or Dark?"
Again, I struggled with this one. Water made me feel at peace. Water was my passion, it was practically the reason I was here. I didn't know what I would without water.
But Dark sounded...tempting. I wanted to be the girl that wears combat boots. Or the girl that knows how to shoot a machine gun. I wanted to be a badass.
But, alas, I chose Water. Water is my existence. I love Water with all of my heart. Well, most of it.
"Water or Animals?"
"Water." That was without question. I mean, I love kitties and dogs, but I don't want to clean up cow crap. I don't want to go outside and feed the horse. The answer was easily water.
