I hope you liked an early chapter! Since I updated a day late last chapter, I decided it would be nice to update a day early. Here you go!
Lani's POV
I sway on one of the swings.
Screeeeech. Screeeeeech.
This thing really needs to be re-oiled. I watch the waves rolls onto the sand, sea foam gathering up onto the corner of the pier. I get up, and walk to the pier, trying to avoid getting sand in my gladiator sandals. I make it to the concrete pathway, with a minimal amount of sand stuck to the bottom of my feet. I shake my feet a bit, getting it all off. I walk down the pier slowly, wind blowing my hair into a mess. I begin walking on the pier, where the land had disappeared from underneath me, leaving only murky water swishing and splashing beneath the wooden walkway. The few trees growing near the park had their freshly grown leaves and branches blowing.
Spring, a time where the weather can't decide what it's going to be. I make it to the pier's end, a small area over the water, fenced in with benches around the edges. I take a seat and stare out at what seems like the never ending ocean. The sun's rays reflected off the water making it appear to glow. I see something in the distance. It's moving. "Must be a dolphin." I say to myself, while blocking the light from my sensitive eyes with my hand. It approaches the pier, getting closer and closer by the second. The water was so reddish/brown, I could hardly see through it after the one foot mark. I dismiss the thing, thinking it to be a big fish, a dolphin, or something of the sort. I stand in the middle of the wooden platform, my feet planted firmly on the ground. I turn on some music, and move to the beat, even if it was bad. I let my loose fitted sea foam green crop top flow in the gusts of wind as I move around. The long sleeves on my shirt kept me fro, getting too cold. Opal had gone out for the day- three days ago. She hasn't returned and I don't know why! I don't need her to watch after me. She didn't even do it well, anyway. She was controlling and tried to turn me into her, and I won't tolerate it.
Caught up in my thoughts, I'd tripped. I roll my eyes, and get up. I turn on a vocaloid song, and begin the routine. I hear a loud splash and suddenly the pier starts collapsing. A shark's head is wide open, through the wood, bleeding. The gills try to collect oxygen, but they're not underwater. "WHAT THE FU-" I fall onto my bum, and scramble to get back up on my feet. I look around, and try to find an exit. The shark got in the way of the only way to get back to land. I pick up my bag, and jump onto a chair. I hear more splashing, the boards of wood are falling into the water. I step on the top of the fence, and try to rotate my body to face the roof of the square platform. I almost slip, but I quickly grab the edge of the roof. I grab a shingle, and pull myself up. It cracks, and breaks off, but by then, I've already reached the top, and climb to the center. I stand up, and begin running to the other side. Some shingles and tiles come loose, break, and/or fall off beneath my feet. I reach the end of the roof, and stop quickly. I try preparing myself to jump, but the tiles under my feet decide otherwise, and I fall. I curl up into a canon ball figure, take a quick deep breath, and hit the wooden pathway, breaking through it and hitting the water; also loosening the shark from it's splintery trap. It plops into the water, and looks rather dazed, but the creature is still very much alive. I don't think twice and begin swimming through the deep water. The shark realises it's future meal is getting away, and chases after it.
"I THOUGHT SHARKS HATED HUMAN MEAT!" I shout at the top of my lungs. I quickly reach waters where I can touch the ground, and begin trying to run. The resistance in the water slows me down, but I keep fighting it. I find a part of the pier still up, and take out my drenched bag. I throw the straps out to the wooden pole and get it to go around it. I pull myself up, tearing one of the straps, and hit the walkway. The shark jumps out of the water, trying to get my right leg which was still hanging off the edge. I pull it close to my torso, and the shark misses. I quickly pull my bag off the pole, snapping the other strap, and run. A gust of wind causes me to begin shivering. I'm clutching my wet and broken bag by the open top, wheezing for air, with burning eyes filled with sea salt. The shark reaches a point it can no longer swim in, for it was too shallow. The shark turns back, and I keep running. I run all the way back to the cabin, sand sticking to my shoes, feet, and legs.
I make it to the Earth area, before needing to stop and catch my breath. It turns out they were all in the middle of a meeting at their bonfire pit. One of the kids looks to me, "Woah! Are you okay? You're bleeding!" He shouts. I look down at myself. Oh yes, of course, I was bleeding. Out of breath, I just shake my head. The leaders, wide eyed, lead me to the infirmary. I faint in the middle of being escorted to be hospitalised.
I wake up, and I seem fine. I sit up, and remember all that happened. My hair was washed and brushed, the scrapes stopped bleeding, there were just some bruises. I was in a hospital gown, but that was probably best for me. My lower half of my body was definitely very sore, as well as my lungs. I hear curtains open. "Right on time!" The doctor had said, walking in and closing the curtains behind him. "We cleaned you up, and took some x-rays. You had some fluid in your lungs, but it should be gone by tomorrow. You will be coughing a bit tonight, but that should be all. Mind telling us what happened?"
I nod. "Well... I was at one of the piers, it was empty as always. I was just minding my own business and I dance a bit. I do that for a few minutes until a shark manages to ram it's way into the floor and block the only way out. I climbed up to the roof and slipped, falling and breaking part of the pier and freeing the shark. The shark begins swimming after me as I swim away, yadda yadda, and I use my bag to help climb onto a part of the pier where the shark CANT get me. From there I run over here." I shrug, unknowingly becoming very pale.
"Strange... We'll send some people out the pier sometime next week to investigate as well as fix the damages. You get some rest over here for a bit, and we'll send you home later tonight. Oh! And you also have some visitors."
"I'll go fetch her a milkshake" a passing nurse says.
"But I'm-" she passes through and goes to get me a milkshake. "-lactose intolerant..."
The doctor exits, and Danielle walks in with two bowls and a tray. "Hey, I brought you some cookies and other baked goodies!" She says, placing them on the table next to me. She places a blanket around my neck after noticing I was shivering. "You okay?"
"How do I get myself into these situations?" I ask her.
"I don't know... Magic? Maybe you're just supposed to." She shrugs. "I feel kind of useless when it comes to comforting people. You know I'm not good at it. I think you need some food, though. You're lucky I'm actually good at making food!" She smiles and hands me a cookie.
I take the chocolate chip sweet, and bite into it. "Mm! Delicious! This is really good, Danielle, thank you!" I smile and say to her with a stuffed mouth. Crumbs fall to my lap, and I dust them away.
"Anytime! Should I go get Will?"
"No, no, it's fine. I also feel sort of bad we haven't had any time together recently. We need to catch up, Dani!" I say, grinning.
Next update will be on Wednesday! Hope you liked Luna's chapter.
We are working on getting a new cover, since we are almost on double digits and we still have the old Divine Divination cover. It's actually super hard to find the right pictures, especially since I can't draw and I suck at photoshop. But, we are working on it.
Until Chapter 10, buh bye!
