Oh Devin...

Kaidyn's POV 

So it's about 9:00 and we just arrived at school. Everything is chill until guess who walks past Vaeh and me? Devin, yes Devin. As a good sister, I casually walked away and gave them their privacy.

Devin: Hey Nevaeh
Nevaeh: Hey Devin
Devin: So the Secret Admirer Dance is coming and there's a question I've been dying to ask you
Nevaeh: Yes, yes, yes. A million times, yes!
Devin: So the rumor is true, you birthday is on Valentine's Day
Nevaeh: What? Uh, no my birthday isn't on Val-- Valentine's Day. There's nothing else you wanted to ask me?
Devin: Ok, but I'm gonna get you the best birthday present ever when it actually comes around
Nevaeh: Really!? What?
Devin: I'm not telling you. It's a very special surprise, for a very special girl
Nevaeh: Awww, thanks Devin
Devin: wanna get breakfast? my treat
Nevaeh: Of course!

Nevaeh POV 
Devin and I just came back from Dunkin's  Donuts, which he knows is one of my fave places at catch a quick bite. We came back at around 9:15 and guess who we bumped into, Harper... Harper Frindle. Oh, you guys don't know who Harper is, silly me... Harper is the super rich girl who has all my periods. And she hates me. We used to be very good friends, bit were not, due to reasons I don't really wanna talk about. Basically, she's out to get me. And she's always around Devin, because she knows I like her, but she never told her, because we had a pact that even a ex friendshop can't break. The pact makes us, like, frenimies.

Nevaeh: Harper, Harper, Harper...
Harper: Nevaeh Tyndale No'Nenya... and her bestie Devin. You know Devin, you're really cute
Devin: Uh thanks
Harper: It was a compliment...
Devin:You're acting weird, like all 3 of us haven't been in the same classes for 3 years straight, but the air is getting a little bit too thick. Nevaeh, I'll catch you in class
Nevaeh: alright

*Devin runs off to class*

Neaveh: You see what you do, you scare people away, you know I like her, why you gotta go and scare her off?
Harper: Don't yell at me! If she liked you, she wouldn't be embarrassed to be around you when others are present
Nevaeh: Well look at you, with you're fancy words
Harper: Just because you don't know them, doesn't make them fancy
Nevaeh: Ugh, I'm going to class
Harper: See you on the flip side, darling..
Nevaeh: Don't call me that

2 whole weeks have passed by and it's time to go to the Valentine's  Day Dance. It may not be obvious, so I'm just gonna explain it. A Secret Admirer Dance is a dance where everyone wears masks and no one knows who you are, kinda like how they did it in Another Cinderella Story. If you end up kisses someone and you don't know who they are, you'll end up knowing 30 minute before the dance ends at the big reveal. That's usually when things go south... The current setting is in Kaidyn's room, where she's helping Nevaeh get ready for the dance.

Nevaeh: Am I done yet?
Kaidyn: Hold your horses! And... now
Nevaeh: Lemme see, lemme see *Kaidyn hands Nevaeh a mirror* oh my goodness! K.D., its beautiful
Kaidyn: Yeah, I put in extra hairspray so that your hair shines on the low lights when you're dancing with Deeeevinnnn
Nevaeh: There will be no dancing!
Kaidyn: You can deny it all you want, but at the end of the day, you're not gonna know who she is, what with the lights being off and the masks
Nevaeh: OMG, You're right. What do I do, I  freaking out
Kaidyn: Dude, chill. There's gonna be over no more than 5 girls in suits there, it would be fate that you end up with Devin
Nevaeh: Fate? Doesn't that mean that if we end up dancing with each other, we were really meant to be?
Kaidyn: Yup
Nevaeh: I'm freaking out again!
Kaidyn: You'll do fine, let's be real, you're related to me for Pete's sake
Nevaeh: This has nothing to do with Pete but if you say do, are you coming?
Kaidyn: Nope
Nevaeh: What!?

At the dance...

Nevaeh: Maya, Maya, Maya, Maya have you seen Devin?
Maya: I've barely seen anybody I know tonight, I think you're the first
Nevaeh: I-- I really need to find her, to stop something from happening
Maya: Well have fun with that, I need to go find me a bae
Nevaeh: Baeee?
Maya: Yeah, that's why everyone's here right?they should have call it the Lonely and Looking For Other Half  Dance. Isn't that's why you're here?
Nevaeh: Yeah, no... I can't really explain it, I don't even think I understand
Maya: Okay love, good luck finding your bae
Nevaeh: Thanks... I think

2 hours later, Nevaeh has officially given up on finding Devin, so she went to go sit down at the back table, the only table in the whole gym. It was in the darkest part of the gym. You would usually find 5 or 6 couples of big kids kissing back there, but Nevaeh was so worried that she didn't even notice, but something epic is about to happen. Keep in mind that everyone is in disguise

Nevaeh: I'm so doomed
??: Why?
Nevaeh: Well, since you're a stranger, and you don't know me and probably won't remember me, can I tell you something?
??: Uh, sure... I guess
Nevaeh: So, if you liked you're same gender bestfriend, and you had no signs that she liked you back, would you risk the chance of telling her you like her, or would you keep you relationship innocent and stay bffs?
??: I would go for it, life's too short to be worrying about things like that, but sadly, I'm in the exact same situation myself, sorry I'm for being a hypocrite...
Nevaeh: No problem, I don't mind, it's kinda making me calmer
??: Well if it helps, I think you have really pretty eyes, and you're hair is beautiful, and so are you
Nevaeh: Awwww, thanks
??: It's funny, you sound so familiar
Nevaeh: Oh, well I think your suit is nice, and you look really good yourself
??: May i have this dance?
Nevaeh: Why certainly

They danced, and danced, and danced. They smiled into each other's eyes and laughed some too

??: I've never been so fond of someone that I've never met before, but it feels like I've know you for the longest time
Nevaeh: same here

Then things got real quiet. Nevaeh put her head on her shoulder and after maybe... 5 minutes the unexpected happened, they kissed

Nevaeh's  POV 

WE KISSED! It felt like the world had stopped. Then everything was falling into place, and I barely noticed it! My fingers locked into their's, the disco dropped, and the slow music began to play. Their lips were soft, and sweet. The kiss was getting slower and slower, like slow motion a love book. This had been going on for about 10 seconds and my heart was  begining to get warm, a feeling I had never felt before was moving into the most sacred part of me. Then, I gently wrapped my arms around their neck and they put their hands on my hips, pulling me closer. I felt... loved. Not that my family doesn't love me, but a person who isn't family loved me, a person that doesn't know me. Then, their arms wrapped around my waist and... it was perfect.

DJ: Ok everyone, the night is almost over so let's see those beautiful face. Go ahead and take off you masks!

Nevaeh and Devin took off their masks at the same time

Devin: NEVAEH!?
Nevaeh: DEVIN!?

Nevaeh's POV 
Then the movie started back over, but better. She picked me up, twirled me in the air. My dress wasn't that long, so I looked like a pretty little flower and we kissed, again! I was happy because it was all coming back to me, Devin actually liked me this whole time. And the best part is it wasn't akward! We danced some more, she bought me food and we laughed more (and kissed again😊). Then the night was over, even though I never wanted it to end... BEST DANCE EVER!
