That day at school seemed like one of the longest ones I had ever had the displeasure to experience.

I felt like everyone was staring at me. Actually, they probably were all staring at me. I had just, after all, kissed the boy that I had gotten shot with. They were probably confused for the most part. Some people thought it was sweet, that we had fallen in love by going through a tough time together. Some people thought it was weird, because I had played it out like I hated Isaac for years, and suddenly I was kissing him in the hallway.

Whatever the case, Isaac and I were the buzz of the school. Everyone looked at us like we were some sort of celebrities. I knew people were talking behind our backs, but I didn't mind that much.

I'm not too sure how all of this affected Nala. She had made her loyalty to me very clear, and by doing that, people also considered her loyal to Isaac. Nala swore me to secrecy about this, but I think I'll tell you anyway.

When I came back to school, Nala attacked me with a hug. She avoided my shoulder, of course, and was careful not to put too much of her weight on me, which was really a sweet gesture. Unfortunately, someone watching this touching scene decided that it would be cool to destroy it by teasing Nala for being friends with the girl "that was a total and complete weakling".

So Nala, being the sass master that she was, walked up to him and got in his face. "Say that again," She dared him through gritted teeth. The boy, not seeing her as a threat, repeated his statement. He was sporting the snarkiest smirk I had ever seen in my life.

Once the boy was done talking, Nala smiled sweetly at him. If you knew her at all, you'd be able to clearly see that this smile was, in fact, a serious threat.

The boy did not know Nala at all, and he made the quite clear by doing that weird thing that popular dudes always seem to do. He put that look on his face that made you want to knee him in the balls.

Which was exactly what Nala did.

She grabbed his shoulders, lifted her leg, and the next thing you know, he's on the ground.

And Nala, being a soccer player, kneed him very hard.

I'll admit, it wasn't exactly the most...polite thing you could do. Both of us know that getting kneed in the balls hurts, though we've never actually experienced it (obviously). However, both of us have fathers, and we had been reminded plenty of times that it was extremely painful.

On the other hand, my dad said it was okay to knee a boy in the balls if he was a complete piece of crap.

You can't really argue with that logic.

"GET OFF MY FRIEND'S BACK OR I'LL DO IT AGAIN, BASTARD!" Nala shouted. Then she spun on her heel and walked down the hall. I followed her, feeling slightly like a puppy, until we turned a corner.

Nala leaned against the wall and grinned. "I'm surprised I didn't trip when I walked out of there."

"Why?" I asked curiously. Nala was usually pretty good with balance.

Nala pushed her red hair behind her ear. Her grin got wider.

Then she said something that I will always remember.

"Well, I've never kneed a dude in the balls before."

She paused for a moment while I snorted loudly. "You better not tell anyone else about this." She warned me. "Or I might have to knee you too."

I started laughing. "Where would you knee me?"

Nala lifted her eyebrows. "With this knee, anywhere would hurt." She said. She spoke so logically that I began laughing harder. Actually, sound stopped coming out of my mouth because of how hard I was laughing.

I guess that's a good way for friends to do, though. Laugh until you can't laugh anymore.

I just hope Nala doesn't get a hold of this. I would prefer not to be kneed in a random painful place.

I was finally home, I had finished all of my homework, and I was sitting on the couch watching Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness.

Because, you know.

I'm just that kind of person.

I was laughing at a particularly funny part in the episode I was watching when my phone buzzed. I jumped and fell off the couch. I guess I didn't realize that I had been laying on my phone.

Just so you know, if you're laying on your phone when it buzzes, you'll probably scream. It's the weirdest experience in the world.

Okay, maybe not the weirdest. But it's pretty close.

I climbed back onto the couch and read my text.

Isaac: Did you hear about the trial?

I blinked at my phone. What was he talking about. I quickly texted back.

Cecilia: What are you talking about?

His response was almost immediate, and once I read it my heart began to pound.

Isaac: The trial for the dude that shot us.
