"Bubba...Bubba......Barnaby!?" someone yelled out shaking me awake. I opened up my eyes and shot of the ground and looked around, only to find a young six-year old boy laughing while running his pale hands through his ravened hair.
"Marshall?" I huffed stomping my foot on the ground, "What?" he implied throwing his hands up in the air trying his best to seem innocent, yet his crimson eyes tell a different story. "Why'd you scare me?" I asked sitting down next to him underneath a cotton candy tree.
"I don't know.....well I mean... it's just that, you didn't look like you were alright." Marshall forced out avoiding my gaze. "Marshall, I'm fine I mean...I was breathing." I chuckled, Marshall hung his head low and avoided my stare.
"Marshall Lee?" I asked worriedly, putting my hand on to his shoulder. He looked up, but not at me instead he looked at my pink hand and took it into his. I felt my heart skip a beat, I guess when he realized what he had done he quickly let go of my hand and looked at me with a worried gaze. Ever since I meet him, ever since we've became his friend, heck ever since I told him about my condition. His always tried his best to make me happy and to keep me from over working myself.
"Barnaby, can I ask you something?" Marshall asked getting up from his position, I simply shrug a leaned against the tree watching the sunset from afar. "When you become ruler of your kingdom we'll still be friends right." Marshall hesitantly asked as he began to float above me, playing with my pink hair.
Knowing that he was serious about the question, I was still mistaken by his words. I looked at him confused, "Of course well still be friends," I smiled "Why do you ask?" i questioned as I faced my focus back to the sunset.
"What, oh it's nothing really."
"Lair."
"Shut up." He responded, tugging on to my hair. I laughed and pulled away from his grip on my hair. "It's just ever since Bonnibel became princess of the candy kingdom she started to ignore Marceline, or at least that's what Marci says. I just don't want that to happen to us." He stated floating down next to me. "Marshall, I promise you that we will never be apart."
"Promise?"
"I cross my heart."
As the sun soon hide behind the castle walls casting out dark shadows. My eyes soon felt heavy as I yawned in exhaust Marshall placed his arm around making my lean against his body and fall asleep. "Night, Bubba."
Those were the thoughts that went on in my head as I watched my sister and her new boyfriend, enjoy each other's company. My heart didn't hurt as much as it did three weeks ago but my sister insisted that I stay in her place hospital for further recovery. As I watched them, through my window envy filled my heart for some reason. Memories, feelings, dreams even that I don't even remember having filed my head.
Thus leaving me baffled, do I envy my sister and her relationship?
