"Dang it." Phil mumbled, his voice thick with sleep. He bent down to pick up the shattered pieces of the mug he just dropped. It was too early for this. He had just woke up, the house was colder than hell, and there was a letter left on the counter from Dan.

Alisa's dog has another seizure last night. She's taking him to the vet. Call me if you need anything. I'm meeting her at the clinic, she might have to put him down. -Dan

Phil felt bad for Alisa, her dog had been having seizures more often- the medication the doctors prescribed him were no longer working. It was an old dog, one Alisa had loved for years, and Phil couldn't fathom the heartbreak she was going through. He didn't blame Dan for wanting to be there to comfort her. Phil thought himself to be a decently understanding person, and he would text Dan to see what was going on and kindly ask how Alisa was holding up.

Right after he had his damned coffee. He threw out the shattered mug, feeling guilty as he recognized it to be one a fan sent in recently. He reached up in the cabinet and pulled down another mug, being more careful this time as he turned on the coffee machine and waited for it to dispense his much needed caffeine. Leaning against the counter, Phil rubbed the sleep out of his eyes behind his glasses- stifling a yawn. Dan would probably be with Alisa most the day if she had to put Buddy down, leaving Phil alone in their flat. He decided to cross off the idea of the collab he had for them to film today and made a mental note to apologize to their viewers. He would have to come up with a back-up plan to film instead.

Feeling a little discouraged, Phil took his fresh cup of coffee into the lounge and set down on the sofa. While he started up his laptop, he also pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Dan.

Just saw your note- hope everything is okay. Keep me up to date.

He had just finished sending a tweet to his viewers when Dan responded.

Vet just came in. Buddy has to be put down if we don't want him to suffer. I'm going to be with Alisa for a while.

I'm so sorry!! Give Buddy a pat on the head for me and send Alisa my sympathies. I'll be home, just let me know when you're coming home.

Phil felt a wave of emotions overcome him. First, he was saddened by the news of Buddy. He really liked that dog, and he hated to know that he was suffering and being put down. His heart ached when he thought of those big brown eyes looking up at him and his long tail wagging when he greeted Dan and Phil. This was followed by a mixture of jealously and anger- he couldn't quite pinpoint why it bothered him so much that Dan would be staying the day with his girlfriend. It's not like this was anything new. Dan and Alisa have been together for most of the years Phil knew Dan. They met during one of their visits to London when they still lived in Manchester- and five years later they were still going strong. Immediately, Phil felt guilty for getting jealous for feeling anything unkind towards Alisa. It's not like Dan was Phil's boyfriend, or anything. Dan and Phil were strictly friends, and Phil knew there was no reason for him to get worked up over Dan spending time with his girlfriend.

An image of brown eyes and curly hair flashed through Phil's mind. He recognized it to be something he dreamed about last night, and couldn't quite remember what it was about. He shook his head, trying to ignore the flipping his stomach started doing. He couldn't fully remember the dream, but he tried to tell himself it's normal to have dreams involving your best friend. Especially since they live together and do most everything together. Actually, it would probably be concerning if he didn't dream of Dan every once in a while, and he was sure that Dan probably had dreams involving himself as well.

Phil decided he would spend his time watching anime until Dan came back home- he might make some of Dan's favorite pasta beforehand as a surprise for him. Until then, he would relax. Flipping through his choices on Netflix, Phil choose to re watch Death Note. After a couple of episodes, he ended up on Tumblr, absentmindedly scrolling through his feed.
