Fight For You Chapter 39

Brooke's Pov:

"Brooke?!" he asked, very surprised to see I was standing right by his bathroom door. "Louis. . ." "What are you doing here?" he asked. "Uh. . ." "Wait, were you listening to me?" he asked, he sounded very paranoid. "No?" I said a bit unsure (it did not sound convincing at all), he nodded which I was surprise at. "Did you hear anything at all?" he cautiously asked. "No, I just got here not that long ago," I admit. He let out a sigh of relief. I crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow. "What?" he asked. I stayed silent.

"What?" he asked asked as he shrugged. "First of all: what are you hiding? Second of all: what's wrong?" I asked, worried filled my voice as we spoke. My hand gently grasp his bicep in a friendly way. "Nothing's wrong," he lied. "And I'm not hiding anything." He turned around and walked to his room again and I followed him. I pulled him back by the arm and he stopped walking but his back was still facing me. He tried to avoid eye contact but he would ecru ally have to face me.

"Louis you know I hate it when you do this," I said in frustration. I sighed. He nodded but didn't look or speak. "We always cuddle on the couch or anywhere. Why is tonight any different? And why are you so secretive right now?" I asked. A small frown formed across my features. "Did I do something wrong?" I asked with a little hurt evident in my voice. He turned around with a worried expression. "You did nothing wrong Brooke," he finally clarified. "Then why did you act so strange?" I asked as I kept looking up at him. "I don't know. I guess I was worried," he admit. "Worried about what?" I curiously asked.

He looked down but I placed two fingers under his chin and made him look at me. I scanned his eyes for any emotion. He didn't say anything but instead he leaned forward and gently kissed my cheek. To him it was a friendly gesture but to me it meant something more. His lips lingered there for a moment. It was like he kissed my cheek for a distraction. I stood there speechless with wide eyes. "A-are you worried about Harry?" I stuttered as he pulled back. He kept quiet.

Now it all makes sense why he acts differently when Harry is around. And why he would awkwardly pull his arm away or what he did today. "It is Harry, isn't it." I stated. It wasn't a question. I knew. He kept quiet, only looking in my eyes. I sighed and shook my head. "Why are you worried about Harry? Now it makes all sense when you pull away when Harry is around," I said. "Are you worried he will do something since the incident that happened in Cheshire?" I asked. "No," he answered as he walked towards the window. He lean, muscular figure stood tall with his arms folded across his chest as he looked out of his window.

"Then why are you worried about him?" I asked. He turned his head to the side where I can barely see his face, only the right side of him. "We are friends for crying out loud. Harry wouldn't mind," I said. His eyes widen as he pressed his lips together. "Look. Harry should be the least of your worries. I cuddle with him. What makes it any different with you?" I asked. "There's is more to the story Brooke," he said. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "There is? Like what?" I asked. "Please enlighten me of how it is different besides the family excuse."

"There is a lot more then you think and wouldn't understand," he said. "How would I not understand?" I asked. "Trust me you wouldn't," he said as he turned his whole body to face me. "I would like to know Louis. I'm tired of secrets being kept. Harry tells me everything and why can't you?" I asked as I walked towards him. Our bodies were almost touching and one of us were to move, our bodies would press against one another's. I could feel his breath hit against my lips.

"Please Louis. Can you tell me this once? Why do you act so scared or worried when Harry is around?" I pleaded as I looked up into his ocean like eyes. His eyes were bright blue and filled with many emotions. I took his hands in mine- his large hands engulfed my small ones. They were so warm and so soft. It made me feel safe.

I scanned his face for any emotion that I can read. "Please. I would understand Louis and if I don't then I would at least try to help with what ever you are going through," I pleaded. He let out a breath of air he was holding and spoke. "You don't know how bad I want to tell you Brooke. So. . . So badly but I can't," he said as he let go of my hands and backed away. I sighed and let my head fall back. "Is Harry stopping you from telling me? Is it something so bad that I can't know? Do the other boys know?" I asked.

He was looking out his window again. His back facing me. It hurt me to know that the one I have feelings for won't tell me anything. "No. Harry has nothing to do with me not telling you," he said. I licked my lips and walked towards him. I turned him around and placed my hand on his cheek. My heart was thumping loudly against my chest, I was shaking and nervous. His breath hitched in his throat at my caressing touch. I felt those familiar butterflies as we touched.

"Then what is?" I asked. He looked down at my lips then back into my eyes. He cupped my hand that was on his cheek and closed his eyes as he leaned in for more of my touch. "It's because I'm confused," he admit. "You need to trust me on this one Brooke. When the time is right. I will tell you but I can't now." I nodded and looked down from him. Our hands were being entwined. "Okay, that's fine but one question. Why are you confused?" I asked. "At least tell me this."

He nodded. "My feelings are mixed right now and I'm going through something with someone that I promised someone else I can't do. It's confusing and frustrating all at the same time. It's best that you don't know," he said. I nodded and closed my eyes as I felt his soft lips press against my forehead. "Please understand," he whispered. I hummed in response and opened my eyes to look at him. Worried was filled in his eyes but it vanished soon after.

I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close to me. Then, I buried my head in the crook of his neck. I breathed in his fresh scent that instantly calmed me. He wrapped his strong arms around me and rested his head on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry," he murmured. "It's okay. I understand," I whispered. We stayed in each other's embrace for which felt like forever but was only minutes.

There was one thing that I know for sure, which is that every time Louis and I are alone or spend time together, my feelings grow more and more for him.
