Chapter 29

---

Amanpulo was truly a scenic sight to behold. The white sand along the beach and the crystal clear waters of the sea will surely lure you in its majestic beauty. And Keziah couldn't help but give into temptation. Although she already had an idea how beautiful the place is, it really didn't interest her to roam around the island. She was even thinking of sleeping the whole day instead but she was glad she didn't because of Kelzi's persistence.

Keziah took off her aviators and placed them neatly on the blanket she was sitting on. Clad in a red two-piece swimsuit, she stood up and ran towards the blue water. Hindi na niya napigilang magtampisaw at sumisid. She swam for a while, without her noticing that she had already fallen asleep staying afloat on the cool water. She could feel the strong chest and the muscled arms of the unknown man around her body.

Napamulat siya. Panic immediately coursed through her that she automatically break free from his hold, and without warning.

"Who are you?! At bakit mo ko buhat-buhat?!" sigaw niya sa estranghero. The sun's rays behind the man was too bright that she couldn't see him clearly earlier.

"I only had my hair cut and you couldn't recognize me?" said the man accusingly. And just by hearing his voice again sent shivers up her spine.

"You're..." Keziah trailed off. She knew who the man was, but she's refusing to believe that he was standing there right in front of her. She squinted her eyes and looked at him properly.

'Oh, fck me.'

"Anong ginagawa mo dito, Quinn?" tanong niyang muli. Feeling his arms around her made her feel warm and safe. Tulad noong mga araw at gabi na lagi pa niya itong kasama at kapiling. And she didn't like feeling that way. It won't do her any good.

"Muntikan ka lang naman makain ng pating kanina. So just please be a lady and thank me for my heroic deed."

"Pating?!" she exclaimed and looked back at the calm ocean. She looked for signs if a shark really did appear on the beach, but there was none.

Napasimangot siya and took a sharp turn to her right so she could glare at him. But seeing his naughty lop-sided grin made her want to melt. She missed him. She really did. And yet she still won't accept nor admit to herself, not even to him.

"I was kidding. I'm sorry." he apologized. "But seeing you floating there while asleep made me worried. Baka magising ka na lang na nasa malayo ka na at hindi ka na makabalik."

She scoffed at what she heard. "Ganyan ka ba sa lahat ng mga babaeng naka-fling mo?!" she spat with venom. She knew he was just being a concerned citizen, but she didn't like his chivalrous act.

"A simple 'thank you' would suffice." he told her, his voice edgy.

Ayaw man niyang aminin sa sarili but she knew what he said was right. She should have thanked him for what he did. She wanted to smack herself for what she did. And what Quinn did was just a simple act of kindness. Kahit masama ang naging paghihiwalay nila, at least he cared enough to bring her out of the water. But she couldn't bring herself to say those two simple words.
